New Recession Bar Menu at Craft LA

tom_colicchio_top chef_judge.jpg Are you subscribed to Lesley Balla's new foodie newsletter, Tasting Table? Well, you better be, because this former EaterLA editor is proving to be the fastest finger on the foodie trigger. To wit: the latest message in our inbox, regarding a fantastic new deal at one of the city's most expensive restaurants. Craft LA, brainchild of Top Chef's Tom Colicchio, has just unveiled a downright economical new menu featuring small plates, with nothing over $9.

The menu options look, well, rad: lamb sliders, frisee and bacon salad, cured local sardines, chicken liver mousse, and pastas and "pizzettes." Plates range in price from $6 for "snacks" to only $9 for refined pastas like "Spaghetti & Local Abalone Puttanesca" and "Braised Veal Ravioli & Hazelnut Brown Butter". Cocktails are also only $8 (Bloody Mary Martini? yes please, and keep 'em coming!).

So for those of you still lucky to be earning a living wage, now's your chance to spend those hard-earned dimes on a millionaire's menu. Better yet, those of us who didn't make enough in the first place to wine and dine at a place like Craft now have a great opportunity to check out Colicchio's place for ourselves.

Don't forget, of course, to check out LAist's other Recession Obsessions...good, cheap food is a right and not a privilege!

Nice. I'm always looking for tasty food to pair with Diet Coke.
