LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy

UCB is blowing it UP this week, with Billy the Mime, new Harold improv teams, and some lovely lady stand ups to close out the weekend. Also, the LA Comedy Shorts Film Festival starts on Thursday and runs the weekend, so head downtown for 30 mins. or less of laughing. And in keeping with my journalistic integrity, my sketch group The Seven Year Plan will be rocking a free show (+ bevvies?!) on Saturday night in Santa Monica at the Westside Eclectic. Now all you internet snoops can’t hound me for not having full disclosure. Blow me up if you want to rep your own shit shamelessly, too.
MONDAY 3/02
Flap Jackson / The Smokes, 8p UCB. New Harold improv teams are up and running at UCB, including The Smokes with Ben Schwartz, the UCBNY and comedy stand out who’s hit the ground running here in LA.
Misbegotten Video Show, 8p El Cid. A comedian or group hosts the show, and presents their own videos, crazy things they’ve found, really just whatever they want.

Michael Loftus, 8p Comedy & Magic Club. This Bob & Tom favorite brings his best material to the Comedy & Magic Club.
Comedy Death-Ray, 8:30p UCB. This show should just be a weekly staple here. They just do it all so well. This week is LAist favorite Andy Daly, fresh off HBO’s Eastbound & Down, with Jerry Minor, Greg Proops and others.

Breakdown City, 8p Comedy Central Stage. Laurel Coppock rocks the one woman stage with tales of coming undone.
Rudy Casoni Variety Show, 8p Steve Allen. Always a good time, the Rudy Casoni show features bastardizations of Sinatra, and everything else awesome.

L.A. Comedy Shorts, from the 5th to the 8th Downtown Independent Theatre. This marks the start of the LA Comedy Shorts Film Festival. Come get your giggles on, there’s some really good stuff out there.

Billy The Mime, 7:30p UCB. You saw him in The Aristocrats. You know what he’s capable of. Everyone loves him. And he’s a GODDAMN MIME!
Craig Shoemaker, 8:30p Ice House. The “Lovemaster” has had a great 2008 and he looks to keep it rolling along with two nights at the Ice House in the Dirty ‘Dena.
SATURDAY 3/07
Jamie Kennedy, 7:30 The Improv. You know Jamie Kennedy. Whether or not you agree with his choice of movies or TV shows, you can’t deny the man does stand up well. Especially when we words up hecklers (not that we condone that).
