TV Junkie: Piven Smells Fishy; More 'Survivor'

"Battlestar Galactica" on SciFi
"Battlestar Galactica" on SciFi tonight
"Entourage"-man Jeremy Piven is still in hot water over his departure from David Mamet's Broadway play, "Speed the Plow" - the plays producers claim Piven was seen partying all over town while supposedly suffering from debilitating mercury poisoning.

Fans of "Survivor" (are there any LAist fans of "Survivor"? Speak up) should be elated that the series has been picked up for two more seasons. No word yet on what exotic locations have been selected.

This weekend is kind of slow other than the dogpile that Sundays have become. The TV Junkie will have a couple really cool interviews up next week, including Chris Isaak his new show, "The Chris Isaak Hour", and Kenny Johnson from "The Shield" and "Saving Grace" for the premiere of the new season starting Monday.

I will admit to watching Survivor...

BTW, any thoughts on "Important Things with Dimitri Martin?" He's pretty funny but I have no idea where he came from...

did anyone else see last week's Big Love? best hour of tv in a looong time..!

thanks polaroidgirl - if you are a Demetri Martin fan, then you will love his show, if you aren't I'm not sure his show will convert you. I'm a fan so I think he's great and I love his surreal non-sequiturs which he can now do in video pieces. Martin was a writer for Conan O'Brien and had been an off/on correspondent for "The Daily Show" among other things.

ekotone - last week's "Big Love" was very very good

ah ha... he's got a Conan AND Daily Show connection... makes sense. Thanks Tom!
