Manny to Dodgers: 'No Thanks'

Agent Scott Boras sent a letter to the Dodgers this morning on behalf of Manny Ramirez rejecting the Dodgers' latest two-year offer. Resigned to starting over from scratch, Dodgers owner Frank McCourt said, "When [Manny's] agent finds those 'serious offers' from other clubs, we'll be happy to restart the negotiations."
While this would seem to be welcome news to the San Francisco Giants, the only other club remotely discussing Manny, Giants president Larry Baer is insistent in staying out of the way.
So what now?
Fuck it. What other team besides the Dodgers have been serious about getting Manny? The correct answer is no one. Since November no team has stepped to the plate to offer Manny anything. The market for Manny is just about as dry as our state's money coffers.
For once we can't blame McCourt and general manager Ned Colletti for screwing this up. They played this perfectly. They didn't bite on Boras' claims of other teams negotiating with Manny and refused to outbid themselves. In fact in this last offer they gave in to Boras' demand for the second year to be a player option without having to sell their soul.
So fine. If Manny doesn't like the offer then he can sit out as long as he wants. Meanwhile the Dodgers better start looking to improve their rotation because from the looks of it they are in a whole world of trouble with or without Manny.
