'The Crisis of Credit'

Jonathan Jarvis, a master's candidate at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, kept it more than a little bit real with "The Crisis of Credit Visualized." This 11-minute animation is just one part of Jarvis's thesis. May his grad school debt vanish with great haste.

The context:

The goal of giving form to a complex situation like the credit crisis is to quickly supply the essence of the situation to those unfamiliar and uninitiated. This project was completed as part of my thesis work in the Media Design Program, a graduate studio at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. For more on my broader thesis work exploring the use of new media to make sense of a increasingly complex world, visit my website here.

Such an awesome video. So glad you posted it Andy!

Thanks, Andy! I'm officially a Jonathan Jarvis fan now, isn't he the same guy who did that kickass earthquake video?

Not aware of an earthquake video, but you can see some of his other stuff at his website.

I was wrong, the earthquake video (you can watch it here and I recommend everyone does) was by Theo Alexopoulos from Art Center. What through me off is that John Levoff does voiceover on both. I love his voice for these types of videos.

Anyway, congrats to both JJ and Theo!

JJ is quite adept at visualizing complex concepts in a simple and understandable method. Fantastic job. Thanks.
