Albertsons to Shut Down 9 SoCal Stores

albertsons_closure.jpg Working to cut low performing stores in a tough economy, Albertsons announced the slashing of 9 stores, which is expected to only affect 12 people's jobs as others should be reassigned. The stores are located in Canoga Park, Chula Vista, Encinitas, Lakewood, Cathedral City, Lancaster, Rancho Cucamonga, San Diego and Temple City, according to the LA Times.

So all the ones in the boonies then.

That's too bad!

I've always appreciated the fact that Albertsons doesn't play elevator music while you shop. More often than not, they have a pretty tight 60s mix going (at least at the one I frequent).

Since when was Lakewood part of the boonies oh high and mighty?

Your geography is a little out of whack.

Bye.

The Albertsons that was in Highland Park closed and re-opened as a Superior Grocers Warehouse store. Albertsons is union, Superior, not. I don't know who owns Superior, but they are a rapidly expanding chain (their website, www.superiorgrocers.com, says '31 stores and growing'.
The local store has some very good sales and it's clean, but not an Albertsons type store.
