May's show is his debut solo exhibity, which reflects a series of intuitive movements, drawing his hand through various hues and draping them inquisitively across wood panels.
SEE CEAIT, HEAR TONE
Tonight is the second set of performances in CalArts' CEAIT Festival at REDCAT. At 8:30 this evening sound art pioneer Yasunao Tone will play. Tone ranks among the first Japanese artists to "compose" happenings and improvisations in the 1960s. Opening for him are composer, improviser, and sound artist Clay Chaplin, mangling political speech in real time to create ambient tapestries of sound, and Laura Steenberge, discovering that the dictionary is alive in her Lecture on Words. Seating is general admission, and tickets may be purchased at the REDCAT box office, by calling 213-237-2800, or online.
Other Things to Do: Witness the death of Steve Martin, eat fish tacos (fish tacos, fish tacos), see some theatre, laugh at Dane Cook, chow down on mac & cheese, or enjoy the Latina Dance Festival.
