Show Preview: Niyaz Performs 'Nine Heavens' @ The El Rey on Saturday

Last year the exotic electro-central-Asian trio, Niyaz, released their double disk, Nine Heavens on Six Degrees Records to much acclaim. One disk is a triptacular and clubbed out journey through devotional Sufi music and the other disk is a much more traditional, acoustic take on several of the same songs on disk one.

On tour Niyaz consists of hypnotic vocalist Azam Ali, multi-instrumentalist Loga Ramin Torkian, oud virtuoso Naser Musa, tabla player Salar Nader, double bassist Miles Jay, and Ray Lee on keyboards. With a lineup like that, a Niyaz show promises to be a great experience.
