A Vegan Favorite Shuts its Doors in Chinatown

veganchocolatechipcookie.jpg Doomie's Home Cookin', which just opened last October, has shut its doors in search of a more permanent home. "I don’t know what to say, I am completely and utterly shocked and saddened by this news. they were one of my favorite spots in los angeles, no doubt," vegan blogger Quarrygirl lamented this weekend. Doomie's opened when the dance club in the space temporarily shut down--it was a product of "hey, let's use the space for at least something while the doors are shut on the club." The restaurant became known as one a hot vegan junkfood spot, serving up amazing vegan chili cheese nachos, cookies and other homemade meals. They expect to open somewhere by the end of the year. to Quarrygirl, that's far off: "Unfortunately, on the first day of february, the end of the year is a long, long way away."

So sad! Fingers crossed he stays on the east side.

When I went there, he was living in Orange County and his GF in NoHo. So I'm guessing "eastside' is the way to go.

Bummer, I hope they can find a good spot where they can thrive. It was kind of a weird place where they occupied.

Yeah, it was. I'm sure they'll find something, they work non stop and fast!

I am fucking CRUSHED. Holy fuck, my absolute favorite restaurant of all time. I almost want to cry.

I went there on Sunday and they were mysteriously closed. I thought they just closed early.

God, I already miss the BLT and the chicken fingers and the calamari and the mac and cheese and EVERYTHING THEY MADE.

Please come back, Doomie. :( :( :( :(

Arrrgggghhhh... and I never even got to try the fried chicken! Boo :(

i am so sad about this! i didn't get to try nearly enough stuff. i only went to doomie's three times!

i swear with this gone AND the vegan spot gone, us vegans have nowhere to get junk food.

if pure luck closes, i am fucking moving.

SO BUMMED!

I've only eaten there once, and I really regret not going back whenever friends invited me. It's just kind of a long way from Palmdale!

Hopefully it opens up again sooner than later!
