Kogi BBQ Getting More Popular by the Day

If Kogi BBQ wasn't popular enough with hundreds of people lining up where Twitter tells them to go, now the only Pulitzer Prize winning food critic and journalist has penned his thoughts on the Korean taco truck that LAist covered last month. "The frequent tweets make you feel connected to Kogi, as if you were friends with the owners instead of just another hungry mouth, even if your only contact with them has been a quick fist bump when you picked up your tacos," Jonathan Gold explains. Last night, it was reported that Kogi BBQ was once again so crowded, some gave the extremely long line one look and found a sit down restaurant nearby instead.

They posted on their blog a week or two ago that, sorry, it's great that Kogi is so popular, and they want to serve you, but if you can't deal with long lines, wait until they get their second truck.

I think the 2nd truck is coming this weekend or next week.

This is typical for a food outlet. How to expand without compromise. Kogi has an excellent idea whose time has come. They need a half-dozen trucks or more, all over the Basin. But as they grow, I hope most of all that the quality doesn't suffer.

Hey, all over the basin? The Valley too! ;)

I'm all about this -- the thrill of the hunt rules -- but I'm not into the line thing. There are too many other wicked spots in town.

I was there last night @ Miracle Mile, and I brought 5 first-timers with me. I can say withour reservation that EACH ONE agreed that it was worth the wait. It's an experience, and the food is friggin' unreal good.

You mean there is more in the paper than coupons?

Shoot and I was gonna try hitting the Silver Lake stop tonight. Maybe not then if it'll be impossible.

What's the average wait time anyway? I've wanted to check it out but keep hearing stories of long lines wherever the truck goes.

Caroline, I think it's dependent on how hardcore you are on being there before the arrive and when they do arrive, running to wherever they find parking. Just get adicted to Twitter a little more ;)

The dinner rush (6-8) and the hour before they close are the most popular times. In their 2nd or 3rd week I went around 10-10:30 at UCLA (right when UCLA was going on break) and didn't have a wait. I went to Silverlake once at 8 and placed my order right away, waited about 20 minutes for food. Usually parking is the most problematic thing. They've given up coming around my house...

I've been twice now and had to wait like 45 mintues each time. I haven't been at the end of the line, but never at the beginning either.

OMG!!!!That is exactly what I am looking for!!
