JetBlue announced this morning that they will begin offering two daily nonstop flights each way between LAX and JFK in New York City and Logan International in Boston. Tickets will go on sale February 4th with flights beginning on June 17.
Currently, JetBlue flights to the east coast can be taken from Burbank and Long Beach Airports.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa gave some nice spin on what this means: "Even in these tough economic times, JetBlue is demonstrating that the road to recovery is through Los Angeles. We are thrilled that JetBlue is offering quality airline service from one of America's premier airports."

This excites me! Does it mean their fares will be higher for LAX I wonder.
Ohhh Yeah!
Sweet, sweet news. If I didn't fly practically free on UAL due to some sweet-ass connections, I'd be flying Jet Blue all the time. I've heard their awesome.
I meant THEY're awesome. Misspellings freak me out.
WOO HOO!!!
JetBlue is pretty sweet indeed, though for me part of that sweetness has come from the fact that Long Beach Airport is small and easy to get through. I'll take a 15-minute-longer drive for a vastly more pleasant airport experience.
Uh, déjà vu? The JetBlue plans for flying out LAX last year were canceled about a month before the flights were to start taking off at the end of May '08. Tickets were being sold and everything.
"We are thrilled that JetBlue is offering quality airline service from one of America's premier airports."
...and into LAX.
I'm with Osomatic. I'll stick with Long Beach, thank you.
