California Highway Patrol has said that the two victims in this morning's crash on the 10 Freeway were a Culver City police officer and a 21-year-old male from Van Nuys, according to ABC7.

Their identities have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Witnesses put the 21-year-old male's Toyota Camry entering the eastbound lanes from the Fairfax off ramp, according to CHP Officer Travis Ruiz in a phone conversation with LAist.

All eastbound lanes of the 10 freeway were shut down early this morning before rush hour and finally reopened at 12:38 p.m.

Is that a body between the Toyota and fire truck against the divider? Yeesh!!!

What I don't get is why the police agencies feel it's necessary to hold a ceremony right there at the scene of the accident.
