Radiohead, McCartney to Play Grammys

Radiohead and others will play the 51st annual Grammy Awards show The 51st Annual Grammy Awards will take place in a couple of weeks here in LA at the Staples Center, and the Recording Academy has announced another batch of artists slated to perform live as part of the show, the Daily News reports. In addition to previously named performers Kenny Chesney, Coldplay, Jennifer Hudson, Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry, and Carrie Underwood, comes word some of music's heavy-hitters will take the stage: Rock icon Paul McCartney (who will be at this year's Coachella fest), Radiohead (their first US tv performance in almost a decade), T.I. and Justin Timberlake together, and Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, T.I. and Kanye West performing "Swagga Like Us." Of course, to see all these performances live you'll have to be part of the select few with a ticket to the Feb. 8 show; as is the norm with awards show telecasts, we'll have to wait for CBS to air it 3 hours later at 8 p.m.

i'm surprised about radiohead playing, since they have long-despised the music industry establishment in the U.S.

but i'm guessing that they're doing this with a few tricks up their sleeve, maybe with plans for a clever way to deliver a big F.U. to the music industry.

that'd be the only way i'll watch that trainwreck.

^ i was thinking the same thing, marc22386.
the Grammys are meaningless and stupid, and I'm surprised Radiohead would be involved.

Do you think they'll be playing Coachella this year?

something tells me they won't be since that means they'll be making two separate trips to southern california within a few months of each other.

i remember seeing them on conan a few months back and they telecasted the performance from london so as to avert the massive amounts of carbon emissions required to ship all the bands equipment to new york and back for just one TV gig.

with their hyper-consciousness towards their carbon footprint, i'm guessing they'll be skipping coachella...even though this goes against my hopes.
