GET YOUR TOES WET
Intersection Dance Project will be performing at an event tonight called La Mer, which is inspired by water and preservation. Produced and directed by Los Angeles choreographer Sher Borrell, the evening includes dance, music, video, spoken word and photography. It's at the Electric Lodge in Venice at 8 p.m.; tickets are $20 and available online.
GET SOME GIDDYAP
Sunshine Millions is taking palce today at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia (one of our favorite places). First post at 11:45 a.m. (gates open at 10 a.m.). There's eight races for California-bred and Florida-bred horses - four at Santa Anita and four at Gulfstream Park in Florida and a total of $3.6 million in purses at stake. Get in on the pony action and wager up. As a little bonus, all fans through the gates receive a Sunshine Millions AM/FM radio. (Remember horse racing is kinda old-school; not many iPods getting handed around those parts. But a fun thing to go do, nonetheless.)
GET "WOUNDED"
Culver City's Corey Helford Gallery is opening “Tracking The Wounded”, a solo exhibition of new works by Joey Remmers. For his first solo show at the gallery, Remmers creates a series of compelling visual narratives, many are adaptations from his favorite novels and short stories. Upstairs in the loft space, guest artist Devin Crane (a DreamWorks animator) will unveil a new series of paintings entitled “Love & Tears.” Head over tonight for the opening reception, which will be held from 7-10 p.m.
Other Things to Do: Satisfy your need for speed in Irwindale, do your part for the arts at ArtLA, do some serious laughing, hit the Red Line and head up for some local cheap eats, or skip the protein and just eat some french fries...then tell us about them.
