"Who in their right mind would pay 125.00/semester to spend hours stalking/fighting for parking spaces when you could arrive 15 minutes early, easily park a few blocks away, and walk?" ~ San Fernando Valley Yelp Review of the Day by Erin H. from the blog News Me Baby.

Ha!
The key to CSUN parking, and please note that I am only spilling this juicy tidbit since I no longer attend this college and don't have to battle for spaces, is as follows.
Simply pull up to the front of the entrance and offer someone a ride to their car and then take their spot. This works especially well when it is 118 degrees in the friggin valley and you lure them in with the promise of air conditioning. I'm tellin' ya, it's like candy in a tear shaped window van.
Obviously, the ladies have a better chance at this then the guys, but hey, it's worth a try and it will cut a good half hour of sircling the parking lot and feeling like you are going to start punching babies before Econ 101.
I remember the first time that happened to me. Nothing like the letdown of finding out that the cute girl was only interested in my parking space.
LOL Rocktageous. Was it Stephy?
$162
"park" and "alk" together in a sentence? HA! a yelper that thinks hes sooooo smart. HAHAHA!!
Man, I'm not even sure what you're trying to say, since I can't find that typo anywhere in the review or comments. Unless it was your typo, and you're laughing at the concept of walking? Good troll, fattie.
And I am, actually, a Yelper who thinks SHE is so smart. :)
Thanks for the mention, LAist!
I tried parking on the streets for a semester, but the money I saved was not worth the headache. I'd say 15 minutes is a little optimistic, at least for the times of day I was parking.
$162 now? Ugh! JavaJunkee- try parking on White Oak. It was always empty and it's never off limits due to street cleaning!
Thankfully I only have evening classes, so while I still have to circle a few times, it's not the madhouse it is in the middle of the day. Also, my classes are on the edge of campus closest to Reseda/Nordhoff. Also, I thought about buying a parking permit (back when they were $145) and then realized that 2 classes a week x 15 week semester = 30 classes x $5 daily parking permit = $150. Park on the street a few times, miss class once (which I knew I would) and I'm already saving moolah. If I'm rushing to a meeting, I'll pay the daily rate, but honestly, I end up going all the way to the fifth floor of the parking garage and waiting behind asswipes who are waiting for parking spaces because they see someone walking to their car, so it probably takes the same amount of time to park as it does to circle. I've even parked on Reseda many times, and I have a method down for where I circle and how. Wash, rinse, repeat.
If I was an undergrad and therefore on campus everyday for hours at a time, I'd probably pony up for the permit. Or have my parents do it (pssh, undergrads). Or, you know, live less than 25 miles from campus.
