Water Rationing Possibly a Reality Later this Year

waterrationing2.jpg With water from Sacramento affected by an environmental ruling over endangered fish, a dry winter this year and lowering waters in the Colorado river, Los Angeles and the region could be dealing with rationing in a few months from now. There are lots of unknowns, such as how severe this could be and if prices will drastically increase, but DWP could enact further phases of the current water law. "The second phase would ban water use four days a week," reported the Daily Breeze. "Further phases eventually cut off all outside watering." Get those drought resistant plants going! Oh wait, we all should have been doing that a long time ago.

explain how this works - when they say ban water use 4 days a week, does that refer to ALL water use, or just like, outside (watering the grass, filling the pool etc).

Just like it says, all outdoor watering, i.e. unnecessary to sustain human urban life. Unless of course you live on an urban homestead where all your outdoor water use grows all your food like one certain family in Pasadena.

It'll be interesting how any rationing gets implemented. Often it's something like "10% less than last year", which ends up rewarding those who've been the most wasteful, while punishing those who have consistently conserved.
