San Antonio Spurs defeat LA Lakers 112-111. What a remarkable game! The game was close throughout, although the Spurs did manage to take an 11 point lead in the fourth quarter. The Lakers led by Kobe Bryant came storming back to eventually take a one point lead. Now for the "naught". After Kobe sinks a three pointer to get the 111-109 lead Roger Mason receives the inbound pass, fakes out Derek Fisher causing Fisher to foul Mason just as his off-balance shot goes through the net with 10 seconds on the clock. Mason makes his free throw, one point lead. Kobe takes the ball down the court and passes to Trevor Ariza at the top of the arc who drives to the paint, trips and gets called for the travel with 0.8 seconds left. Game over. Much kudos goes to Spero Dedes and Mychal Thompson on the radio call. They do a great job broadcasting games, and this game was no different.
Detroit Red Wings defeat Anaheim Ducks 4-3. Coming into the game the Ducks were 14-0-0 when leading after two periods. Then the Red Wings and their octopus stench wafted into the Honda Pond-a and in the matter of 35 seconds turned that record on its head. And this was after Sammy Pahlsson came back after a Ducks spectacular penalty kill.
Atlanta Hawks defeat LA Clippers. The Clippers are slump busters in every sense. The Hawks came into Staples Center with a four game losing streak to emerge victorious. The Clippers meanwhile have lost their 600th consecutive game and suck it harder than I do after three months of unintentional celibacy.
Notable Notes
- With Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman trophy winner Sam Bradford announcing his return for his senior season, it's becoming more apparent that USC quarterback Mark Sanchez will go to the NFL.
- I was completely unaware they talked sports over at the Huffington Post. But Stephen Kaus wrote a piece that blasted Joe Buck. It's so bad he prefers Kenny Albert as the play-by-play announcer. I completely agree. No amount of Elvis Costello references can redeem his pontificating smug attitude while calling a game.

Hearing Joe Buck is just a DISGUSTING act, and it's unfortunate we have it on live air. I like Aikman, but I never understood why Buck is the voice of Fox's major sporting events. The Lakers got H-O-S-E-D!
