Lola's, the originators of the apple martini, want to make sure you don't give up your entire social life during these tough economic times. To help you get through, they are hosting Hard Times Happy Hour, featuring $5 martini specials and $5.50 appetizers for you to enjoy. Some of the featured martinis include the original apple martini, cantaloupe martini, chocolate martini and many others.

Yes or no? Which side are you on? If you still haven't made up your mind on the Prop 8 debate, here is your chance to hear each side's argument. Judy Muller, associate professor at the USC Annenberg School for Communication moderates the debate between ProtectMarriage.com/Yes On Prop 8 general counsel, Andy Pugno, and attorney Gloria Allred, who represents same-sex couple Robin Tyler and Diane Olson. Be prepared for some fireworks.

A Boatfull of Spaniards Sing may not sound like visual arts, but you'd be wrong not believing it. The exhibit is a collection of new works by Los Angeles native and CalArts alum, Monique Prieto. Through February 7th.

MUSIC
Composer, songwriter and actor, Louie Cruz Beltran puts on a show at local jazz hot spot the Catalina Jazz Club. A unique fusion of of Brazilian, Jazz as well as traditional Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Beltran and His Latin Jazz Ensemble are sure to play something to get you moving or help you relax.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Lola's has had that happy hour special for as long as I've known about the place. Also, ONLY the drinks on the happy hour special menu are half-off. The rest of the martini list is the normal price of $10-$11, I think.
