Vin Scully Named Top Sportscaster of All Time

How do you honor a man who has received perhaps every possible award in his industry? Well the American Sportscasters Association named Scully the best sportscaster ever. In 2000 he was named "Sportscaster of the Century" by the same group.

Scully, 81, will be broadcasting Dodger games for the 60th consecutive season this year, a tenure which is unprecedented in all professional sports. Scully started under the tutelage of the great Red Barber with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1950 and became the youngest person to broadcast a World Series game in 1953 at the age of 25. He called the Brooklyn Dodgers first World Series win over the Yankees in 1955, Sandy Koufax's perfect game against the Chicago Cubs in 1965, Henry Aaron's 715th home run against the Dodgers in 1974, Kirk Gibson's miraculous home run in game one of the 1988 World Series against the Oakland A's, and much much more. If you haven't heard his call of Koufax's perfect game, listen to it now.

If you don't agree with this then the terrorists have won.

And Joe Buck gets a pay raise.

Certainly no argument from me, though Red Barber is right there with Vin at the top.

thank the good lord he's coming back for next season.

i think i would've been lost all summer if i had to listen to charlie steiner every night

Chick Hearn will always be my #1

That is a brilliant audio clip!

I left LA 25 years ago and what I miss the most is hearing Vin Scully call a game.
