Flooding in Silver Lake Damages At Least 1 Home*

Flooding suspected to be caused by a broken water main damaged one home around 1:30 this afternoon. "It looked like it was going to flood out several homes, but they were able to control the flow and redirect the water," said Ron Myers of the Los Angeles Fire Department. He said it appeared that one home on the 3000 block of Windsor Ave. suffered damaged, but could not conclude to what extent.

According to LAist's photographer Tom Andrews, it appeared that more than one house may have been damaged. It looked like water was coming from a hill above Windsor Ave., he said. He also saw water flowing down to as far as Silver Lake Blvd. in front of the 7-11.

Spokesperson Carol Tucker from the Department of Water and Power could not immediately comment because her office had not been informed by the incident yet.

Update, 3:47 p.m.: Gale Harris of the LADWP said that a 4-inch water main broke around 1:15 causing approximately 25 customers to lose water as crews work to restore service, which should take 4 to 5 hours.
