Green Line to LAX Delayed Up to 7 Years on Staff Report

Although not approved by Metro's Board, that staff report with timelines of projects has created quite some talk around town.

The timetable they suggest for the "Subway to the Sea" has Mayor Villaraigosa unhappy and Southbay officials are not pleased either.

They "expected the MTA to extend the Green Line to Los Angeles International Airport as soon as 2015. Under the new draft, that project will not be done until 2018 at the earliest, and perhaps as late as 2022," reported the Press-Telegram.

And add to that the Crenshaw line that was set to be completed no later than 2018. Scratch that, the draft report now says 2029.

Way to reach for the stars there, City of Los Angeles.

Jesus, might as well just go back to horse and buggy.

Lets start a pedicab service to LAX from the Green Line station, it's not like traffic to and in LAX is much faster then 10 mph at any given time anyways. No infrastructure planning required, just buy a some bikes and hire some people who would love to get paid to ride a bike, connection issue solved.

This is why I voted NO on Measure R.

I want to see progress on existing projects before dumping more money into the MTA's black hole.

In the meantime, for your consideration, I suggest a nomination for both the MTA and L.A. County voters for the Capt. Louis Renault award for best actors in a supporting role.

These timelines are bogus. They are a trial balloon to see how riled up the public and various officials will get, and then they will shortly be revised, after the uproar. They can borrow against the future revenue, and get matching funds against the borrowed funds, so there is no reason things can't be built much faster.

But Ugly American, I don't understand how withholding funds from the MTA would result in progress being made on existing projects? If the MTA is starved of funds things would just get worse. Poor Howard Jarvis started this trend, luckily for him he is dead and can never know how deeply he destroyed public works and education in California.
