Bam! Prop 8 Backers File Lawsuit to Change Campaign Finance Disclosure Laws

prop 8 campaign financial disclosureSharon Tate's last meal was at El Coyote before she was murdered by members of Charles Manson's "Family."

After things scenes like this--see photo above (and more here)--this was bound to happen.

"The Proposition 8 campaign has filed a federal suit challenging the constitutionality of California's campaign finance laws that compel disclosure of personal information by campaign donors who they said have been threatened and harassed," the SacBee learned this afternoon.

In a prepared statement, the campaign said that "this harassment is made possible because of California's unconstitutional campaign finance disclosure rules... even donors of as little as $100 must have their names, home addresses and employers listed on public documents."

Majorie Chrisoffersen, the manager of El Coyote, resigned after her single $100 donation to Prop 8, which banned marriage in California, sparked protests and backlash towards her and the famously gay friendly restaurant.

It's beyond ironic--as David Markland put it--that last October the Associated Press reported on the Prop 8 campaign telling "businesses that have given money to the state’s largest gay rights group they will be publicly identified as opponents of traditional unions unless they contribute to the gay marriage ban, too."

Campaign finance disclosure if VITAL to a smoothly running democracy. I hope this gets thrown out with a resounding laugh.

I've said it before I'll say it again. If you can't stand the heat STAY OUT OF POLITICS!

Ummmm... does that mean we should also publicize how every person votes?

That's an interesting point, but I think a bit off topic.

Or to illustrate differently, and I don't want to violate godwin's law, there's a reason Klansmen in the south are allowed to vote however they like and we'll never know, but they aren't allowed to wear masks that cover their faces whenever they have one of their little parades.

The Klan headquarters is in Connecticut. The most visible KKK groups are in Illinois, Montana, and Kansas. The KKK in the south was wiped out in the late 80s and early 90s when they were prosecuted for past crimes and upon conviction their land and property was seized and given to the plantiffs. Educate yourself.

Don't know what these people accomplished by demonstrating at a restaurant and hurting one person. Are they going to go after all the millions of others who did not vote their way? This was about getting facetime and just looked quite lame. It is the same old thing, they have a right to their opinion, but those who disagree with them should be harrassed and censored. Everytime they pull one of these stunts they just encourage more people to join the opposition.

WFS, it's a very different thing to publicize a vote vs. the amount of money given to a campaign. World's away.

Are they really worlds apart though?

Look, I'm all for full disclosure of campaign contributions. But one has to keep in mind at what cost. Some would argue that political donations are a form of political speech. Now if we were to publicize those disclosures, can't one expect that some would be less inclined to participate in the political process by donating to a cause or a candidate?

I think what I was trying to get at was BingosDingo's statement, "If you can't stand the heat STAY OUT OF POLITICS!" Personally, I don't mind the heat but I am wary of applying heat that could stifle the expression of differing viewpoints.

A vote is private, but the money (and who donated) to spearhead a campaign should most certainly be public. Consider a proposition to curtail public transportation; wouldn't it be informative to know that oil and gas companies are funding it? What about Prop 10 last election. T. Boone Pickens, a very wealthy oilman who has invested HEAVILY in wind-power in Texas spearheaded that prop.

Or would you rather vote on vaguely worded propositions without knowing who is behind them?

Next dumb question?

I think you're glossing over the reason of why a vote is private and why that reason should or shouldn't apply as well to political contributions.

But thanks for calling my question dumb.

Sorry WFS. I can be rather heated about political issues. Especially those that are designed to deprive a segment of the population the same rights as the rest of the population.

I'd like to also apologize, for not being so articulate with my first comment which probably gave it the appearance of being snarky when that was not really the intent at all.

A key difference is that we all get one vote. But the rich get to donate a lot more than the rest of us!

I want to associate myself with your comment. And may I add, "Word"?

There's a word for people who want to be able to participate in something without being exposed as a participant. If only I could remember what it is...

Beats me, Ross. ;)

(Also: Hypocrisy makes me laugh.)

Any one who thinks that a $100 donation classifies one as rich, should just wear the logo POOR.

However, it might be relevant to post the donations of public groups, such as the California Teachers Association who donated $1,300,000, but made false claims about gay weddings and homosexual issues not being taught in our schools.

Hypocrisy makes me laugh too, but truth makes you cry.

I really like Careless Whisper. Great Song.

The homosexual agenda. By the way, little fellows, it ain't working. Still 85% of the U.S. population opposeS this homosexual agenda and same-sex marriage deviant attempt, which coincides with the approximate 87% vote for DOMA by the Senate and Congress which was signed by DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON IN 1996. (CONSTITUTIONAL FEDERAL LAW)

The homosexual agenda includes desensitizing the public: "The first order of business is desensitization of the American public concerning gays and gay rights.....To desensitize the public is to help it view homosexuality with indifference instead of with keen emotion. Ideally, we would have straights register differences in sexual preferences the way they register different tastes for ice cream or sports games....At least in the beginning, we are seeking public desensitization and nothing more. We do not need and cannot expect a full 'appreciation' or 'understanding' of homosexuality from the average American. You can forget about trying to persuade the masses that homosexuality is a good thing. But if only you can get them to think that it is just another thing...then your battle for legal and social rights is virtually won" (25).
Part of the homosexual agenda is to get the public to affirm their filthy lifestyle, as one homosexual admitted in the October 1987 homosexual rally on Washington: "We are no longer seeking just a right to privacy and a protection from wrong. We also have a right -- as heterosexual Americans already have -- to see government and society affirm our lives" (27).
Part of the homosexual agenda is to turn people from Christianity: "The teaching that only male-female sexual activity within the bounds and constraints of marriage is the only acceptable form should be reason enough for any homosexual to denounce the Christian religion" (1).

Current research shows that the true percentage of homosexuals is in the 1-2% range (15,23,26,28). Consider how small this number is when compared to most of the numbers above.

My favorite GM song, however, would probably be Hand To Mouth. So awesome.

Dingos - sorry to nag but the first rule of Douchespeakerclub is that we do not, under any circumstances, engage him or respond directly to him in any way. We ridicule him, but we do so by posting non sequitors to everything he posts. He's not here to debate, he's here to provoke.

Any time he posts, reply to his comment by listing a song you like - I like to pick a different theme for each article, but that's just me.

So if your douchespeakerclub for those who like to douche one another. I have a name for your club, "The Douchebaggers.

George Michael song, "Faith". Your lack of faith and deviant sexual lifestyle leads to Hell. 'Because you have to have faith. Faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Second song "Praying for Time". You must pray for time, but you're all out of time.

Oh but she protests so much concerning her own truth..

Report: Pedophilia more common among 'gays'
Research purports to reveal 'dark side' of homosexual culture

Child molestation and pedophilia occur far more commonly among homosexuals than among heterosexuals on a per capita basis, according to a new study.

"Overwhelming evidence supports the belief that homosexuality is a sexual deviancy often accompanied by disorders that have dire consequences for our culture," wrote Steve Baldwin in, "Child Molestation and the Homosexual Movement," soon to be published by the Regent University Law Review.

Baldwin is the executive director of the Council for National Policy in Washington, D.C.

"It is difficult to convey the dark side of the homosexual culture without appearing harsh," wrote Baldwin. "However, it is time to acknowledge that homosexual behavior threatens the foundation of Western civilization – the nuclear family."

Though the homosexual community and much of the media scoff at such accusations, Baldwin – who chaired the California Assembly's Education committee, where he fought against support for the homosexual agenda in the state's public schools – says in his report that homosexual activists' "efforts to target children both for their own sexual pleasure and to enlarge the homosexual movement" constitute an "unmistakable" attack on "the family unit."

Baldwin's research is substantiated in a recently completed body of work written by Dr. Judith Reisman, president of the Institute for Media Education and author of numerous authoritative books debunking sexual myths, including "Kinsey, Crimes & Consequences."

In her thesis – also written for the Regent University Law Review – Reisman cited psychologist Eugene Abel, whose research found that homosexuals "sexually molest young boys with an incidence that is occurring from five times greater than the molestation of girls. …"

Abel also found that non-incarcerated "child molesters admitted from 23.4 to 281.7 acts per offender … whose targets were males."

"The rate of homosexual versus heterosexual child sexual abuse is staggering," said Reisman, who was the principal investigator for an $800,000 Justice Department grant studying child pornography and violence. "Abel’s data of 150.2 boys abused per male homosexual offender finds no equal (yet) in heterosexual violations of 19.8 girls."

Jay Heavener, spokesman for PFLAG – Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, counters that federal crime data refute claims that homosexuals molest children at higher rates than heterosexuals.

"According to data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), this claim is false," he told WND by e-mail. "The gay and lesbian community calls into question any dubious research which flies in the face of our own experience."

And Gary Schoener, a clinical psychologist who has been diagnosing and treating clergy abuse for 28 years, told Salon.com, "There are far more heterosexual cases than homosexual."

In terms of sheer numbers, that may be true. But in terms of numbers of children abused per offender, homosexuals abuse with far greater frequency; and boys, research shows, are the much-preferred target.

Baldwin says evidence he examined disproves the assertion that child molestation is more prevalent among heterosexuals. Both he and Reisman found that media coverage of adult homosexual abuse of minors is also slanted.

"The National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) recently boasted that although homosexuals are less than two percent of the population, three-fourths of the people who decide the content of the front page of the New York Times are homosexual," Reisman wrote.

That one fact is especially noteworthy, experts point out, given the recent child sex scandals taking place within the American Catholic church.

A survey by WorldNetDaily of recent news reports found that rarely did the media describe priestly sexual abuse as "homosexual" or "gay" activity – even though the worst incidents involved male-to-male contact, and a spate of investigative reports has revealed that the Vatican is concerned about an upsurge of homosexuals in seminary schools throughout the world.

Gay press promotes sex with children

Baldwin says his research not only "confirms that homosexuals molest children at a rate vastly higher than heterosexuals," but it found that "the mainstream homosexual culture" even "commonly promotes sex with children."

"The editorial board of the leading pedophile academic journal, Paidika, is dominated by prominent homosexual scholars such as San Francisco State University professor John DeCecco, who happens to edit the Journal of Homosexuality," Baldwin wrote.

During his research, he also found:

The Journal of Homosexuality recently published a special double-issue entitled, "Male Intergenerational Intimacy," containing many articles portraying sex between men and minor boys as loving relationships. One article said parents should look upon the pedophile who loves their son "not as a rival or competitor, not as a theft of their property, but as a partner in the boy's upbringing, someone to be welcomed into their home."

In 1995 the homosexual magazine "Guide" said, "We can be proud that the gay movement has been home to the few voices who have had the courage to say out loud that children are naturally sexual" and "deserve the right to sexual expression with whoever they choose. …" The article went on to say: "Instead of fearing being labeled pedophiles, we must proudly proclaim that sex is good, including children's sexuality … we must do it for the children's sake."

Larry Kramer, the founder of ACT-UP, a noted homosexual activist group, wrote in his book, "Report from the Holocaust: The Making of an AIDS Activist": "In those instances where children do have sex with their homosexual elders, be they teachers or anyone else, I submit that often, very often, the child desires the activity, and perhaps even solicits it."

In a study of advertisements in the influential homosexual newspaper, The Advocate, Reisman found ads for a "Penetrable Boy Doll … available in three provocative positions. She also found that the number of erotic boy images in each issue of The Advocate averaged 14.

Homosexual newspapers and travel publications advertise prominently for countries where boy prostitution is heavy, such as Burma, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Homosexuality 'youth-oriented'?

"Research on the homosexual lifestyle confirms it is almost exclusively a youth-oriented culture," Baldwin wrote. "Very few gays exhibit preference for older men."

"Some admit to focus on teenage boys," he said, "some on prepubescent boys, and many cross over between categories."

The institute, after reviewing more than 19 studies and peer-reviewed reports in a 1985 "Psychological Reports" article, found that homosexuals account for between 25 and 40 percent of all child molestation.

"But this number is low," Baldwin says, "due to the fact that many reporters will not report if a child molester is a homosexual, even if he knows that to be the case."

Rocky Horror Picture songs.

"Super Heroes". So good.

This stuff is staggering.

I also see where the California School Assn donated $1.3 million to fight Prop 8.

But, you guys won't debate these issues will you.

Sing a song. How's this LaLa for the LALA land you live in.

Wasn't David Maltz a former Mormon? Which means that he dropped out and choice the low road. I read some where that he donated $100, but when he found out that the Mormon church was promoting Prop 8, he poored in his millions. Sounds like he had a personal hate for the church or more specifically God.

No, you are referring to Bruce Bastian, but yes David Maltz did donate millions in an attempt to redefine marriage. They are all working in conjuction to eventually get us to succumb to polygamy, incest marriage, and pedophilia marriage as acceptable arrangments.

On Nov. 14, 2009 there was a LA Town Hall debate with Andy Pugno for the Yes on 8 side and the attorney for the lawsuits under the disguise of the Right to Marry.

It became apparent that they were not interested in any general right to marry, because they were unwilling to address any of the other marriage laws that excluded people. It was also apparent that just like the No on 8 ads, they were ashamed to stand up and say we are fighting for the rights of same-sex marriage.

The hypocrisy is that gays want the government out of their bedrooms, but by obtaining a marriage license that are asking the government to legalize what they do in their bedroom.

Also, the fate of the 15,000 or 10,000 or whatever number they don't want to count, is already predetermined by the federal government. DOMA states that no state need recognize the same-sex marriage or domestic partnership of another state, and that would mean that California would not recognize previous same-sex marriages. Prop 8 specifically says that only marriage between a man and woman is valid in California.

CHECK MATE.
