TV Junkie: SNL-Alum Al Franken Wins Senate Seat; SAG Strike Yea/Nay?

Al Franken wins Minnesota Senate seat
The TV Junkie says "welcome back" to you all, to a new year and a new "Winter Season" of TV. Premieres we are looking forward to this month are "Nip/Tuck" (FX 1/6), "Damages" (FX 1/7), "24" (Fox 1/11), "Battlestar Galactica" (SciFi 1/16), "Big Love" (HBO 1/18), and "Lost" (ABC 1/21).

In terms of TV news there's not an incredible lot to report other than "SNL"-alum Al Franken winning a Senate seat (woot!) and the never-ending SAG-strike drama (will they/won't they? Go fish or chop bait yo). Do you have any TV news items to share with us? Do you think the SAG should strike?

Can't wait for Big Love and LOST.

And no, SAG should not strike, but the AMPTP should stop bullying, too.

Any word on top gear america yet?!?!?

Can an American version even rival the British one?

Americans don't appreciate European sports cars the way Europeans do. A US version would just talk about how Hummers are powerful and totally awesome. (I was watching an episode where Jeremy was driving a Ford F-150, since they're the best selling car in the world - probably due to businesses/contractors, I think - and he totally ragged on it, which would never fly in the US. That's so unpatriotic, don't you know. Criticizing Detroit's cheaply manufactured gas guzzlers.)

Though it would be cool to see Brits do a US version. Sometimes I'd like to see them do more cars that are available in America. But no one can replace those three guys. They make the show so entertaining.

Oh, and yay new Top Gear and Gossip Girl!

This is another *god-dammit-stupid-new-comments* f-up. Move along. That was in reply to Zach's Top Gear America comment. (I know Brits do TV best, but have the US really run out of ideas?)

it won't, but hell, I at least want to see what Adam Carolla did with it...

benicio del toro on conan?!? yay! :)

FYI - scrubs will be on ABC on tuesday 1/6/09.

i also think that SAG shouldn't strike. cheers for al franken!

Note, BTW, what it says near the bottom of the LA City Bureau of Sanitation page that you link to:

Too big for the green bin or no tools? Place at curb on collection day.

The tree in the pic above looks like it's set up correctly for curbside pickup: no stand, decorations, or tinsel, and standing at curbside near the green can, in a position that makes it easy for the truck's pickup arm to grab it.

It's undoubtedly easier for the greenwaste pickup drivers if you can cut it up and stuff it in the can, but the Bureau of Sanitation page seems to suggest they'll pick up whole trees at curbside if necessary.

(Whoops. Mis-posted that from elsewhere. Mods, please feel free to delete the above comment (and this one!))

(Sorry 'bout that.)

Albeit not TV, thanks for the tip LA MapNerd! It helps no matter where you read it:)

Al Frankin won? Are you sure? If he didn't why isn't his keester parked in a senate seat?

I spoke with an actor a few days ago who is "praying" that the strike happens.
