SNEAK PREVIEW* NOTE: The event is now full, but will open in LA on Feb. 6th
There’s a sneak preview tonight of the film Blessed is the Match at the Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills at 7:30 pm. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmakers Roberta Grossman and Marta Kauffman. The award-winning documentary tells the story of Holocaust heroine Hannah Senesh. Though she was safe in Palestine in 1944, she volunteered to rescue Jews in her native Hungary. “Hannah parachuted behind enemy lines, was captured, tortured and ultimately executed by the Nazis. Though only 23 at the time of her death, Hannah left behind a body of written work that has inspired readers around the world for generations.”

FILM
Midnight Cowboy was the first X-rated film to win an Oscar. It stars Jon Voight (Joe Buck) as a small-time Texan who heads to New York to become a kept man, a stud for the ladies. He meets conman Dustin Hoffman (Ratso Rizzo) and the two odd men out forge a friendship and try to survive in the big city by any means possible. The film screens 8 pm tonight at the Bay Theatre in Seal Beach.

COMEDY
The Armando Show takes the stage at IO West at 9 pm tonight. For $10, get a load of laughs on regular and guest comedy and improvisers. If that’s too early for you, the IO’s 11 pm show “Jon and Eddie” stars Alex Fox and Rachel Lewis in the titular roles. “Never ones to shy away from the ridiculous, these two brazen broads embrace the world of absurd through their daring physical and vocal choices. Interweaving grounded scene work with a fearless sense of play, Jon and Eddie’s bold and brash style brings a hilarious horde of characters to life.” The tickets are only $5.

ACOUSTIC LOUNGE
There’s a free show tonight at Genghis Cohen at 7 pm. BMI’s Acoustic Lounge features the stripped-down stylings of Robert Popa, Stephen Wrabel and Fay Wolf.
