New to Downtown: 'Unlike Any Other Mexican Restaurant Menu in Los Angeles'

casa_downtown.jpg Well, that's what Casa's public relations folk are saying. But we'll let the public (and Yelp) decide its uniqueness starting tomorrow when Casa finally opens in downtown's California Plaza next door to MOCA on Grand Avenue (we've penned the area as Performance Row).

Casa is Chef Kris Morningstar’s (former Blue Velvet exec chef) new Mexican restaurant will feature two different menus and concepts--one for lunch and another for dinner.

Lunch is envisioned to be a realistic for the working stiff type to get quick service and high quality food at the same time. Choose your filling and the vehicle like a burrito, taco, salad, etc (If you know Mendocino Farms, you might recognize this concept--a couple members of the Casa team are from their).

Then dinner brings out the more interesting menu items like grilled octopus, braised rabbit, pork and beef meatballs and beef tongue tacos.

And then add in a Casa-specific cocktail menu. Last month for their soft opening, they sold their Feliz Navinog (chocolate, mint, Bacardi rum and eggnog with crushed candy cane dusting the rim).
