LAist Goes Shopping: Jane Doe John Doe, a Project Runway Store

Driving down 3rd Street, you'll spot a dress by Season 5 Project Runway winner Leanne Marshall in the window of a boutique just East of La Cienega. Walk in the door of Jane Doe and you'll notice a change. First off, the store is now called Jane Doe John Doe. The John Doe refers to the addition of menswear and new co-owner Jerell Scot from Project Runway. A mannequin near the front of the store features a long colorful jersey knit dress with a hood by Korto Momolu.

Then there's the decor- walls full of mirror mosaic and other fun details. Shelves above each rack hold framed signs marking which designer made the creations below. Designs by several of Jerell Scott's Project Runway colleages (some of our favorites) are mixed with other drool worthy choices.

So now that the changes are clear, what's in store? Many treasures. Co-owner Ani Lee's brocade vintage inspired frocks have that Mad Men aesthetic. Leather vests by Stella Zotis hang on a wall ready for a rock musician to come by and claim them. Accessories that range from delicate gold chains to bracelets with chunks of motorcycle trophies. Jerell Scott's vests, sweaters, hoodies, and coats are embellished with beads and fabric from around the world. Jerell gave us a tour of the store and even modeled a few pieces for us. We bought a dress by Ani Lee to wear to a concert on New Year's Eve. It rocked!

Take a look at the new Jane Doe John Doe then go in and see it for yourself. Jane Doe John Doe is located at 8478 West 3rd Street.
