JAZZ HOLIDAY
The Count Basie Orchestra takes to the Walt Disney Concert Hall stage at 8 pm tonight for “A Swingin' Christmas.” The legacy of Count Basie and his Kansas City sound lives on in his outfit, and you can be sure they’ll put a jazzy twist to Christmas classics.

HANUKKAH CELEBRATION
Congregation Kol Ami leads the “Hollywood Chanukah Celebration” in the Central Courtyard of Hollywood & Highland at 6 pm tonight. There will be a lighting of Hollywood’s giant Ice Menorah, musical performances, children’s arts and crafts and holiday treats for all in attendance.

DREIDEL DREIDEL DREIDEL
On the Westside, they’re taking a different spin on Hanukkah: The Santa Monica Synagogue hosts a competition on the Third Street Promenade to break the world record for simultaneous dreidel spinning. The previous record is 603 people for at least 10 seconds, so bring a friend or five. The lighting of the menorah will follow.

FILM
The Bay Theatre in Seal Beach screens Trainspotting (aka “Trrenspaten”) tonight at 8 pm. Watch those crazy Scottish kids dabble in heroin to escape their bleak existence.
