The Best Turkey Sandwich in Los Angeles

A turkey sandwich, when done well, is a delicious and satisfying lunch mainstay. In fact, it's one that I rely on as a dietary staple. A few simple pieces of turks, tucked happily between two slightly warmed slices. Easy. Tasty. Attractive.

I never really gave much thought as to whether a masterpiece of form and substance existed in the genre. Had I eaten certain sandwiches from certain vendors that outshone others? Sure. But the Turkey Sandwich that it was my honor to ingest at Grub on Seward Street was not only above and beyond, it stole a place in my heart, and I hope it will in yours as well.

It all begins with a brazen decision: to leave lettuce out of the sandwich. In it's place, we find a bold substitute: cucumber. You realize that the chefs have traded up - the cucumber is the Angelina Jolie of sandwich toppers.

Now, no sooner do you take your first bite than you realize that there's something else about this sandwich that makes it a little special. You're starting think think you might have feelings for this sandwich that go beyond what you've ever felt before. You take another bite: what's different? There are the sprouts, sure, but there's more. Is it the slight flavor of something sweet? Apple, perhaps? The menu cites dijon, but you know it's more than that. It's exciting, enticing...new. Next, your tongue discovers something creamy...the brie. You had almost forgotten about the brie, the reason you decided to order the sandwich in the first place.

You're almost head over heels by this point. The sandwich has you where it wants you, completely entranced and unable to think of anything else; your lunch companion, the fact that you may be parked on the side of the street that's street cleaning today, the return phone call you owe your mother. The only thing that matters is the Sandwich in front of you. You take another bite, and then another, and before you know it it's halfway gone. I should take a picture, you think to yourself. Capture it's beauty. And so you do. You take a photo so loving, so perfect, that you have to share it with the world. And this, dear friends, is what we give you today: The Best Turkey Sandwich in the City of Los Angeles.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Lulu's Beehive on Ventura Blvd in Studio City has the best turkey sandwich. Lulu's 4 life!

Grub's turkey melt is a life-affirmingly good meal too :)

Will try Lulu's soon!

and I'll try Grub's but probably without the brie

Gotta disagree. Grub's a cute place; been there twice, but the food is unimaginatively unimpressive, turkey sandwich included

i really like Grub, my favorite dish is the warm goat cheese salad, and my cousin swears by the bacon to be the best bacon in the world!

grub has really gone downhill in the last few years...like...really bad.

Samkin,

Try the BLT, I just tore through it at lightning speed and can say without a doubt that its my favorite by a clear mile :) Bloody awesome sandwich :)

(garlic potatoes done to perfection with a liberal pepper sprinkling)
