A largely known Prop 8 proponent has been selected to do President-Elect Barack Obama's inauguration invocation on January 20. Rick Warren of Lake Forest's Saddleback Church was chosen by the Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, which is causing the LGBT community to go a little nutsy on the blogosphere.
"As we've pointed out several times before, in 2004 Warren declared that marriage, reproductive choice, and stem cell research were "non-negotiable" issues for Christian voters," wrote a blogger at Right Wing Watch. "[He] has admitted that the main difference between himself and James Dobson is a matter of tone. He criticized Obama's answers at the Faith Forum he hosted before the election and vowed to continue to pressure him to change his views on the issue of reproductive choice."
"How on earth could he select fundie Rick Warren to do the invocation?" questioned Pam Spaulding, who understands the selection of Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery to deliver the benediction at the ceremony. Lowery is a revered veteran of the civil rights movement and was the co-founder, along with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
Watch Warren below talk about Prop 8:

Of all people to choose --
his team picks this anti-gay civil rights shit-heel in the center of California's culture war.
Makes me puke.
Yes we can?
suck my dick!!
Obama's team didn't choose Warren; Congress did.
From Salon:
This time, though, the decision to get involved with Saddleback was actually not Obama's. The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, run by the House and Senate, put together the program for the swearing-in ceremony.
CA Senator Diane Feinstein, chairs the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.
Here is Diane Feinstein's senate website.
You can send her an email here: http://feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=ContactUS.EmailMe
this is a disgrace !!!
I don't think the Obama team would pick this guy anyway. Because Obama will have the most diverse staff in the history of this country. It's mind blowing when you think about it.
BOO Congress!!! :(
It's Obama's big day, you think he doesn't have a glance at the roster?
paleeeease
why is he still sucking OC preacher ass? He is IN.
how purpose-driven of them.
fail.
"A court of four guys voted to change the definition of marriage".
...as he puts up 3 fingers. HAHAHAHAHAHA!
BARF. Seriously, I sit down to eat lunch and read this?? I don't care if this asshole put boots on MLK's feet everyday this is 2008/9 enough with this shit.
if you guys think Obama didn't have veto power on this decision, you're fooling yourselves.
i knew it would come, but this is my first big disappointment from Obama. it stings.
but i found this comment over on ThinkProgress.com, and it's an interesting take...
misshusseinmolly Says:
Oh, let’s look at this creatively. Warren is giving the invocation at the beginning (while Bush is still technically president), and Lowery is giving the benediction at the end. What better way to symbolize “out with the old, in with the new” — the very definition of change?
December 17th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Lowery is a progressive darling and pro-gay marriage.
In October of this year Obama said he was against Prop 8, but then went out of his way to give the GOP a lovely soundbite for their robo-calls:
"i believe marriage is between a man and a woman"
Thanks Barack.
Oh Buzz-
get a grip on yer Barry Obama adoration.
I am no longer settling for happy peppy PR 'spin' or crumbs of "acceptance" in 200.
The USA is officially the ass backwards, mildly retarded but prayerful hillbilly cousin to the rest of the free world.
It's Obama's BIG DAY - he calls the shots.
It is a suck ass decision and a disgraceful one.
and as far Lowery goes, I would not exactly call him pro-gay marriage. He is "anti-discrimination" at best but without the balls to say outright and plainly to his flock that 'gay civil marriage' at the federal level is RIGHT and FAIR and will not HARM straights in any way.'
Pastors commenting on politics is the equivalent of celebrities (ie Paris Hilton, etc) commenting on politics. Both actors and pastors should stick to their trained profession and out of politics, because as soon as they speak you realize just how uneducated they actually are and how poorly researched and completely inaccurate their information is.
Is there a Christian manual they've been passing out on these statistics and facts of why you should vote Yes on Prop 8, and no one has bothered to research it beyond other propaganda that you find from other right wing Christian coalition sites? I think I could learn as much about life and politics from a 5-year-old as from this guy. Dear pastors, stick to telling bible stories about people parting waters and leave politics for the people who went to a real college.
I'm feelin' hopey 'n changey all over.
*sips hot cocoa*
I emailed Obama's GLBT liason / advisor: Parag Mehta
and told him I was insulted
and asked why Pastor Warren was a better choice than Rev Wright?
so, Racism is bad but homo bashing is commendable?
parag.mehta@ptt.gov
parag.mehta@ptt.gov
Obama's GLBT liason got an email from me
Guys, guys, I think you're forgetting something. Obama isn't trying to appease bigots, he's trying to appease douchebags. Just look at Rick Warren's Goatee. He must have forgotten his backwards Yankee's cap, and you obviously can't see the Abercrombie and Fitch logo on his shirt.
Just another misstep by the committee who doesn't seem to realize how grossly inappropriate it is to be spending all this money on the inaugural celebrations (one party planner said they are being sensitive...they definately won't serve shrimp).
I always wondered what the bottom of a bus looked like.
Thanks, Obama.
@plasticanimalz: Um, to become a pastor in most denominations requires port-graduate education. Many pastors have an M.Phil or PhD in Divinity. From real schools (unless, you know, Yale doesn't count as a real school). I completely disagree with the way most of them view homosexuality and gay marriage, but that doesn't mean they are uneducated. Let's stick to the facts.
msmerymac, point taken, however, couldnt' it also be argued that going to school to study what is essentially an epic science fiction-fantasy story might be expensive, but it doesn't make one educated. Unless we're going to start offering doctorates in Klingon.
Obama is full of shit.
"A wide range of viewpoints will be presented" at his gala?
Where are the muslim leaders? Rev Wright?
A racist pastor with a racist viewpoint?
An anti-semitic religious leader?
Riock Warren's views are not valid - nor are they acceptable - likening gay unions to pedophilia, incest. He is ugly and divisive.
Seems to me Obama chose a horrible anti-gay insulting religious figure for world-wide exposure
on the day of his Inauguration.
That is disgusting - and will NOT be forgotten
2012 will come quick, Barry.
Vote GAY and for big GAY loudmouths promoting GAY rights to the mainstream -- and settle for nothing less, people !
Wow, there sure is a lot of hate being shared against Rick Warren and Christians in general on this site. What difference does it make to anybody who gives the invocation for O's inauguration? I thought the reason that O got elected was because liberals wanted a "liberal" change in our government? From what I am seeing, what liberals really want is to eliminate anyone who does not share their views. That's interesting because my impression of being a liberal is to be inclusive. I understand that O has asked an openly LGBT band to play in the inauguration parade (in an attempt to be inclusive). That's fine with me even if I don't approve of the lifestyle of LGBT. Why, because they are Americans and this is America. I don't have to agree with anybody's view in order to appreciate their right to have it. Gay's don't need to be promoted in this country, they just need to be included (which they are). The same goes for Christians or Muslims or Jews or Agnostics. We all have value and I have not heard a Christian pastor try to change that when talking about what they believe the Bible is saying. What Rick Warren believes as part of his faith deserves the same respect as what LGBT believe about their lifestyle. I think that "main" stream America is beginning to see the true colors of the LGBT groups. That's too bad because it isn't helping your cause to be so hate filled. I never saw the LGBT community as being violent or hateful until I saw the demonstrations in CA when the VOTERS made a decision about what constitutes a marriage in that state. That's the way it goes sometimes because we are supposed to be a government by the people and for the people. Rick Warren's beliefs concerning the LGBT lifestyle did not make the VOTERS in CA vote the way they did. We all should be ever diligent to make sure that our right to different opinions is protected. We don't need to be fighting with each other just because we are different. That's just sad.
Why is it that intolerant people always accuse their critics of intolerance?
government by the people and for the people
Unless you're gay.
I think the KKK also uses the bible to justify their beliefs...
uh-oh, msmerymac, you're being intolerant of people who want to take away other people's constitutional rights. How dare you.
If Ross is accusing me of being intolerant, I would like to know what I said that is intolerant? And what constitutional right was taken away from the LGBT community in CA? As far as I know, no one can vote away a constitutional right. If that happened that I am hoping the courts will settle it. If an issue shows up on a ballot that is unconstitutional, no vote should be allowed.
msmerymac: Don't be ignorant. The KKK are not Christians. The devil also knows every word in the Bible. Also, I was not aware that you could not vote if you were gay. When did that happen? If you are an American, then you are part of "by the people, for the people". The voters in CA made a decision based on something that they wanted. I am sure that there are issues all over the country that get voted in that someone doesn't like.
My comments were based on the hate that is being directed at someone who does not share your views. That's what is sad. I don't understand that or how that is supposed to promote your cause.
If that happened that I am hoping the courts will settle it.
And were you one of the people screaming "OMG activist judges!" when the courts ruled that gays have the same rights as heterosexuals.
The point is that this is NOT a democracy. It's a republic. The majority doesn't get to do whatever they'd like, especially when it comes to oppressing the minority, telling them they can't have the same legal and economic benefits as the majority. The government has a duty to protect all citizens, and sometimes it has to protect unpopular groups because they have a right to not only exist and be tolerated, but to be treated equally.
The right to marry. Stop being a deliberate asshole about this.
I do hope you're right, because if so, then hateful assholes like Rick Warren will be sobbing like the whiny little crybabies they are when prop 8 is overturned.
And look - if I go up to you, tell you that you're a sinful, evil person and conspire to take away your right to marry, all the while trying to pass laws marginalizing your right to exist, including fighting laws that make violence against people named rhemlow a hate crime, then no, you are not being intolerant if you get motherfucking pissed off at me and call me what I am, a hateful asshole.
Which brings us back to doe - the proponents of prop H8 are the ones fighting against the rights of other people, and it's pretty goddamned rich to watch people cry like whiny little crybabies that they can't just be bigots without anyone getting mad about it.
Rick Warren is a rich, bloated asshole who makes millions by spreading hateful lies about other people. I'm sure he'll get over what you seem to think is "hate".
"msmerymac: Don't be ignorant. The KKK are not Christians."
Bullshit!
The KKK was founded as a Christain organization who's mission has been to protect White Anglo Saxon Protestant Christain ideals, and to prevent the ungodly mixing of races. They quote the bible copiously. Through out it's history most of the KKK's supreme leaders have been southern church pastors.
Don't be ingorant rhemlow. What do you think the burning cross is all about?
What is funny is that the word "gluttony" is used far more in the Bible than the word homosexulity, in terms of things that one could say the Bible says are wrong. Yet, you never hear the Christian Coalition say anything about that. Maybe because of all of the obese Christians. Hmmm? Now I wonder if Warren even knows that? I wonder if he thinks that being fat is a choice? Or more likely, I wonder if he is a self-serving, hypocritical fat blob? Yes, that sounds right. You better change your ways Warren or you won't get your fat a$# into heaven, it simply won't fit through the door.
Again, the KKK are NOT Christians, no matter what they say or how they started out. I am Italian and in my family, we know that the Mafia started out as a means to fight the oppression of some of the other immigrants to the US during that time. My grandparents and my father lived in a German neighborhood and were constantly having to defend their right to live there. They dealt with burning crosses on their lawn and rocks through the windows. Were all of these Germans that participated in these activities members of the KKK? Or just hateful people who did not understand what it meant to come to America for a new life? I think you know.
As a child in school, I was not accepted by the white folk or the black folk. It was tough, but I did become quite the runner because of it. My family defended the Mafia until it became what it is today. The Mafia today is not at all what it started out to be, so I would never defend it. No matter what.
Here is the main point I am trying to make. I do not hate anybody. If I don't agree with someone, I don't associate with them because I don't have to. I have a choice because I am an American. No one can make me support or associate with any group. For that I am grateful and you should be too. Behaving like you have no sense does not prove you are right, on the contrary, it makes you look ignorant. And i know from experience, no one wants to follow someone who is ignorant.
No one has to go to Rick Warren's church, or listen to him on TV or whatever. I would guess that not everyone who does go to his church or listen to him agrees with everything he says. That's America. You don't have to.
Every legal US citizen (of age) has the right to vote and should do it if they want the government elected who will support their views . If O wants Rick Warren to give the invocation, so what? It won't make a real difference in anybody's life. If O has invited a LGBT band to participate in the parade, so what, it won't make a real difference in anybody's life.
I had never thought of the LGBT community as violent or hateful and at times have agreed with their societal concerns. But from what I have seen regarding this Prop 8 issue in CA and from what I have read on this site, I have changed my opinion. I can only hope now that what I have seen is not representative of the LGBT community at large and just a small group of people that are hateful because they are just hateful.
The CA prop 8 bill was voted on to define marriage as between 1 man and 1 woman and does not prohibit civil unions. The CA constitution Article 1 that is being used as a tool to strike down the wishes of the voters does NOT say anything about the right to marry. Section 7.5 states that "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California". It doesn't say anywhere that people have the right to marry, it is only defining what is a legal marriage. So where is that coming from? I'll tell you where. The answer is the courts Typical to liberal politics, the courts established a right that does not even exist. Take heed, we Americans cannot allow this to happen. Courts have absolutely no right to void a constitutional amendment. If you want to educate yourself, you can read the California Constitution Article 1 at: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/.const/.article_1
Liberals are exploiting interest groups (like the LGBT) to take us down the path of socialism. You should be more concerned with who you voted into the White House then in Rick Warren's beliefs. Rick Warren is not going to be deciding your future, but I assure you, the liberals and O will be.
If you take the time to read my posts and then the responses to my posts, tell me who is out of control? Why the need for foul language and hate filled rhetoric? Why not some logic and common sense? Like I said originally, it is really sad and quite the eye opener for me.
What is funny rhemlow is that people tend to get a little nasty when you take away their rights. So to make it clear, when you attack someone, they are not as nice as they usually are. So if you see some gay people that seem angry, it is because we have to pay attention to stupid religious practices even if we don't buy into them. I wonder if you would have said the same things during the inquisition. "Wow, those women that we are burining over there seem so angry. I guess all women must be angry creatures." Wise up.
Happy Yule everyone. In case you don't know, Yule was the orginal pagan holiday until it was stolen and co-opted by the Christians to form Christmas. I was raised in a Christian household, so I still celebrate Christmas, but now as I have converted and become a Pagan, I now also celebrate Yule. Look it up, it is fun and you can throw a Yule party tonight to celebrate. Also, if you are out there and tired of listening to all of the bs from the Christans, Muslims, and Jews, come join the oldest religion of them all: Paganism. I promise you, we don't care if you're are gay or not. In fact, we love gay people. Happy Yule everyone!
Hi Santa, For Christmas, I don't want anything for myself. I want you to take something to the Vatican. Please take them all of the blood that is on their hands from all of the Christmases past. Please keep it inside the walls of the Vatican so that they can breate in the spoils of their centuries past. Thank you Santa.
to babylon 1498.
Ok - I get it. When all logic fails, attack the groups that don't share your views. That always makes sense. Whether or not you believe in God, makes no difference to me. You get to choose what to believe.
Just like others get to choose what to believe. Whether or not celebrating Christmas is historically accurate, for Christians, they believe in what they are celebrating. Why does that matter to you? Is anyone making you sing Christmas songs, or go to church? Of course not. Just because you don't agree with Christians does not take away the holiday for them.
If you don't like the Christmas displays or hearing, "Merry Christmas", well get over it. We all have a right to celebrate each and every day in this country because we are Americans. And regardless of your views on religion, you as an American (of course I am making an assumption that you are an American) should be willing to stand up for the rights that we all have. If we lose them, you will be affected too, make no mistake. It is only because of the right we have to worship the way we want, that you have the freedom to be a pagan. If being a Christian becomes intolerable, so will being a pagan.
Enjoy your Yule celebration. I will be enjoying Christmas!
Guys, let's just ignore him so he'll go away. Seriously. For instance, every time he posts, respond by naming your favorite christmas season song.
Mine is Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney.
Ross - no need to fret, honey. I can see that an honest debate is not possible on this site. Too bad because I was hoping that someone with your world view would be open to discussion.
You will continue to hate and that's your right. I will continue to search for true Americans who are willing to stand up for everyone's rights.
It's not likely to happen on this site.
God Bless you all and I pray that you find the happiness that you deserve.
I also really like Christmas in Hollis by Run DMC.
If the KKK is not a Christian organization, then same goes for LDS and Saddleback.
Any group that advocates violence, persecution, and oppression should be considered a terrorist group, not a religion.
Boycott Rick Warren, NOW.
Don't go to his church, throw away his books that have been bought by millions, but most of all, reject the millions that he has given for gay causes and AIDS research.
He is evil right, so his money must be evil, and his intent in helping gays and finding a cure, must be so he can keep you alive so he can have some one to hate, right? Your bigotry blinds you to reason and the acceptance of TRUTH.
You, as a group, not individually, have proven yourselves to be the most intolerant, bigoted, and hateful of any group on this side of the planet.
You don't want Rick Warren to give the President-Elect Barack Obama's inauguration invocation on January 20, but you and the LGBT don't mind NAMBLA members being invited to speak at LGBT events.
You all would be best served to study the Black Civil Rights movement and the truly constitutional arguments. I suspect that you do not want to, because there is no room for your founder of the Gay Rights movement and NAMBLA, who proclaim a constitutional and moral right for men to have relations with boys.
KKK are not and have never been a Christian organization. I am not sure, which are you anyway, KKK or Christian? I am a Christian and I say that KKK are not Christians. They have never accepted Christ as their saviour, they were never born again, and filled with the Holy Spirit. The homosexuals who left the Mormon church were not Christians either. Sorry, when you become a Christian, it is something that you can not leave. Mafia hit men attend church and go to confession too, but that ain't no Christian.
But again, all Straights can stand up and declare that Homosexuality is a childish phase, that people with Psychosexual Gender-Identity Disorders are going through and they will get over it, and they better hurry. Do you agree or disagree? If you disagree, your disagreement is base on what?
Since 75% of prisoners engage in homosexuality, and homosexuals are born that way, can we say that since 2% of the populus are homosexual and that 2% make up 75% of the criminals in the prison system that homosexuals are generally deviant. Wow, all the while, they were born gay and now they are criminals.
Straights would represent 25% of the prison populus, but represent 98% of the general populus.
I also happen to think that White Christmas is awesome.
rdm24 said:"Any group that advocates violence, persecution, and oppression should be considered a terrorist group, not a religion".
How true that is. And from what I have been seeing on the news about the protests in CA over prop 8, the LGBT community has now joined the ranks of a terrorist group. They should all feel so proud of themselves.
I have been a church goer for since 1970 and I have never heard hate speech in any of the churches I have attended. Unlike Obama, I did pay attention to what pastor's preached about and if I had heard anything hateful against anybody or anything (except the devil), I would have gotten up and walked out.
A true Christian message should always be to hate the sin, but love the sinner. To pray for your enemies, stand up for truth and learn to hear God's voice. God is perfectly capable of showing us His truth and in leading us to the path of righteousness. But make no mistake, God will not be mocked. The day of judgement is coming and my prayer for all of you is that you are on God's side when that happens.
I find it very interesting that one of the first things a deviate will do to substantiate their existence is to discredit God and His people. They figure that if they can get God out of the way then whatever they do is alright. (NAMBLA)
All I see from the LGBT community are attempts to discredit everyone else to prove their lifestyles are superior. That's just insane and advocating hate against anyone is counter productive. They are not fooling anyone and end up being the fooled.
My heart really does go out to anyone caught up in deception of any kind.
Ross: My favorite Christmas song is "O Holy Night".
to truthspeaker23 - I appreciate your logic in using the prison populace as an argument against homosexuality and whether or not homosexuality is a choice or something one is born with.
I'll have to remember that next time I try to debate that question.
You are correct about what makes one a Christian. And I agree 100% with you that Mafia hit men who attend church are not Christians!! Good one! :)
If you are looking for a logical debate on this site, I am sorry to disappoint you, but it's not here.
Ross: Another one of my favorite Christmas songs is: O Come All Ye Faithful.
"Again, the KKK are NOT Christians"
AGAIN yes they are. Not all Muslims are terrorists either. KKK are Christian terrorists. (yes you guys have your share of them too)
"no matter what they say or how they started out."
Bullshit! Of course it does.
JRB, you gotta stop responding. They're not trying to debate, they're relying to provoke, so they can act indignant and shocked that they managed to provoke you. It's the same thing right wingers do on every media outlet.
I love Let It Snow. Great song.
@Ross: Really? Wonderful Christmastime? I find the chorus to be sort of annoying.
It might be embarrassing, but I have to hand it to "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," the Judy Garland version.
As far as traditional songs go, I like "Good King Wenceslas."
Gotcha Ross.
I had already stopped responding to liespeaker a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know rhemjob is now considered a troll.
I think my fave is the one Nat King Cole did. "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire..." A lot of people have done it, but nobody does it like Nat did.
I'm starting to suspect that rhemjob* is a sock puppet for douchespeaker.
Meanwhile, you're right, that song is awesome. Also, the Chipmunks christmas song is the bombdiggity.**
*+1, very nice.
** only temporarily bringing this word back.
I dunno the Chipmunks always sounded like the Beachboys on crack to me.
To rhemlow:
Very good post. You are right, they do not want to listen to the facts.
By there logic, if you drive down Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood, you have to be gay.
Just attending church, even for 20 years does not make you a Christian, Jew, or Muslim, etc. I am not Catholic but have attended a few Catholic churches. I am not Muslim but I have attended a few Mosques. I am not an Orthodox Jew, although by adoption rights I am Jew, but Israel is not my homeland.
We know, that one must accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. They are either just uninformed or argumentative, because you can attend a church and before part of a religion but accepting Christ is altogether different.
Fact, there are churches teaching that it is okay to practice and pursue homosexuality, but they have no doctrine or basis in scripture for that claim.
According to their thought, since Harry Hay founded the National Gay Rights movement and he was a pedophile who supoorted NAMBLA, then all gays must be pedophiles and NAMBLA members.
They would belong to the religion of Pedophilia and pray to the Pedophile god.
But, what can you expect, only in prison is homosexuality the majority practice, and logic would have one say that homosexuality is something that one chooses as evidence by the 75% that choose it in prison.
Try this, 95% of the pedophile Catholic priests were homosexual. Did they chose the practice due to sexual oppression or were they born that way and chose priesthood to prey on little boys.
Homosexuals or Christians?
"douchespeaker."? Now, that is funny, since if we clean out sexual nastiness, there would be no concern with AIDS.
And Douchespeaking does have the purpose of cleaning out and washing out filth, perversion, and nastiness.
Running water, wash away, wash away, and let the Holy Spirit cleanse all empty souls. That is called Baptism with Water. You must be baptized with Water and with the Holy Spirit. Douching the soul and cleansing the body. -Thank you and Merry Christmas and God Bless you and your family.
I also love Last Christmas by Wham!
So, it's rhemjob and douchespeaker? You have proved my point beautifully. You want to be treated with respect, yet you relish the opportunity to be disrespectful. Makes no sense to me.
Homosexuality is a choice. Being born black or white, is not. You have no idea what it really means to fight for your rights. You just like to whine. Gay indeed.
Back to the reason I started posting to this site. Rick Warren is probably going to be giving the invocation on BHO's bog day. Just the the LGBT band will be playing in the parade. Get over it, I have.
Hey gang, here's an excerpt from an article that I read on Reuters. The UN is trying to pass a resolution to force all member "states" to accept homosexuality in their countries.
Read thia by Patrick Worsnip
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - "The U.N. General Assembly split over the issue of gay rights on Thursday after a European-drafted statement calling for decriminalization of homosexuality prompted an Arab-backed one opposing it.
Diplomats said a joint statement initiated by France and the Netherlands gathered 66 signatures in the 192-nation assembly after it was read out by Argentina at a plenary session. A rival statement, read out by Syria, gathered some 60.
The two statements remained open for further signatures, the diplomats said. No resolution was drafted on the issue and there was no voting, they added.
The division in the General Assembly reflected conflicting laws in the world at large. According to sponsors of the Franco-Dutch text, homosexuality is illegal in 77 countries, seven of which punish it by death."
In 77 countries homosexuality is illegal and 7 countries punish homosexuality by death!!!
My goodness, it's a good thing the LGBT community lives in the great US of A, isn't it?
So stop whining about the injustices you suffer. How pathetic you sound. "We aren't being given the same rights as straights", or, "The voters in CA don't want to change the CA constitution for us". How about taking that same energy that you use for hate and do something good for your fellow countrymen?
I suffered through hurricane Ike and there were a lot of Christian churches that helped our communities when we needed it. I don't recall any LGBT group lifting a finger to ease the pain of those that lost everything. Did they help in Katrina? How much money do your groups contribute to charity each year? Show me if you can.
Or, should I just call the whambulance for you!
I'm also a big fan of Kurtis Blow's christmas rappin'. Awesome song.
to rhemlow:
They can not help but be disrespectful, they have demonstrated a total lack of respect for themselves.
They can not control a little member called tongue and they let profantiy and perverse language pollute their mouth. How can we expect them to control the other little member that spews perversion and pollution upon their body.
If they can not control their speech, they surely can not control their sexual urges. I guess they will now claim that they were born with a profanity mouth spewing obsenities and it is not their choice.
I like "O Come All Ye Faithful" too and "Silent Night" and " O Holy Night". All songs about CHRIST that are sung during CHRISTmas and enjoyed all year round.
New rule everyone - since christmas is now over, no more xmas songs. Now, respond by naming your favorite cocktails, you know, for New year's eve.
I'm drinking absinthe, old school style. MMMM MMM Good.
I'm guessing truthspeaker will pick the blood of Christ as his/her favorite cocktail. I happen to think it tastes too iron-y.
Vodka and "Berry" Juicy Juice.
Let's try the Wine of the Holy Spirit, which requires a new vase. We should pray for gays, since they are most susceptible to drug and alcohol abuse this time of the year. Rick Warren will send his loving prayers.
Alcoholism is a fatal chronic illness affecting the lives of 20 to 30% of the homosexual population (Ziebold & Mongeon, 1982). Studies have found that 35% of lesbians had a history of excessive drinking, compared to only 5% of the heterosexual women in the sample (Saghir, 1970; Lewis, 1982). Approximately 30% of lesbians and gay men are addicted to drugs (Rofes, 1983). The facts show that the homosexual community constitutes a high-risk population with regard to alcoholism and drug abuse. The process of recovery allows you to heal by working through those feelings you have pushed down with alcohol and/or drugs. It is often said that when you have a substance abuse problem, your emotional development stops when you start abusing. When you medicate your feelings, you numb yourself from conflicts and reality. Once you decide to no longer abuse, those feelings and emotions will surface and may be overwhelming. Self-help groups offer a safe and supportive environment where people share common experience, strength and hope. This article was written by Dot Wojakowski as part of a Challenge Grant, produced and distributed by McGill Student Health Services:It is commonly believed that factors such as stigma, denial, alienation, discrimination, and the cultural importance of bars place lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals at higher risk of developing problems with alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD). We do know one thing: many issues need to be understood and addressed by prevention professionals working with lesbian, gay, and bisexual communities before they can deal with the destructive consequences of ATOD.
I prefer Grape Juice and also like to cook with Grape-Seed Oil, like the Blood of Christ, they cleanse out the system. A healthy body, for sure, I have. Lifestyle choices and sexual preference, I am sure. Pomegrante juice is good for you too.
I don't know, maybe the gays on this board are all caelibatis, but for the others, it might be a good practice to cleanse internally with grape juice, grape-seed oil, or the baptism of the Holy Spirit. When you debase your body, by waddling in cesspools, a lot of cleansing might help. Sounds like a little douching needed.
I like grape juice and pomegrante juice personally. But for internal cleansing you might also add grape-seed oil and baptism of the Holy Spirit. I am sure that a lot of gays who do not practice caelibatus are need of a little douching and these things will help.
"But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband." Could this be speaking also of the temptation of some men/women to engage in smae-sex immorality. Why of course.

Did you read the latest "protest" from our LGBT friends? They sprayed painted black swastikas on a church in San Fransisco to protest Prop 8 - funny thing was that particular Catholic church actually agrees with LGBT and is against Prop 8! Hatred causes one to lose their senses and to act irrationally. It will also cause disease and destruction in the hater's life. You would think that they would have that figured out by now, wouldn't you? I continually pray for them and I know that our Lord Jesus will take care of it.
Your list of celibates is impressive. I agree with you - it is better to be celibate then to engage in immoral sexual activity. For some of the people you mention, I believe their choice of celibacy was made to better devote their time to the work of God. When one is married, your life belongs to another person.
I have a Christian brother who at one time practiced homosexuality. He tells me that the desire did not go away - so he is celibate. He is a very strong Christian and a blessing to all who know him. He is praying that one day, he will be able to be married and have a family. His belief is that whether you are "born" that way or "become" that way, you still have the ability to choose what God requires of you. The saying "I just can't stop myself" or "I just can't help it" is bull and just an excuse to satisfy the lusts of the flesh. It doesn't have to be a homosexual life, it is engaging in any behavior that takes you on a path away from God. For now he is content to be on the right path.
Happy New Year! It has been really interesting to see the outrage over Obama choosing Rick Warren to do the invocation and I look forward to watching it.
First, I watched Rick Warren do the invocation and what spiritually impressed. Some gay activist also tried to ruin his visit to Ebenezzar Baptist church on MLK day.
Thanks for the accolades on the list of celibates. If we consider that most people are celibate over 95% of their life, consider each day and how much time we actually spend having sex.
As for your friend, I will pray for him. He should know that a desire towards homosexuality is either fed or starved. We have to kill our flesh to any sinful desires. The desire will go away if he continues on his path. If he has not yet received the infilling of the Holy Spirit,he may wish to inquire about that, and seek the understanding from God.
Alcoholics have AA, and if would be nice for those who choose, if there was a HA-Homosexual Anonymous. They would follow the same 12-Step program. All sin is very similar in nature.
Happy New Years.
