San Jose Sharks defeat LA Kings 3-2 (SO). The Kings really brought their A-game at the Staples Center against the best team in the league. They took an early 2-0 lead in the first period, but the Sharks naturally came back to tie things up in the second period. However the Kings stayed with it and kept the Sharks scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Kings get a point for the overtime loss, and they are really showing the promise of good things to come in the future.
USC Trojans defeat Pepperdine Waves 91-77. The Trojans held a cool 23 point lead at the half, but the Waves tried to mount a second half rally. The closed to within six points with three minutes remaining in the game when USC just smashed them back in the face with a 14-6 run. Led by Taj Gibson's career-high 25 points, USC was able to send Pepperdine back to Malibu to deal with their impending mudslides.
Notable Notes
- Well it's been a while since I've written any news about the Dodgers. Last week they non-tendered Takashi Saito, Scott Proctor, Angel Berroa, Yhencey Brazoban and Mario Alvarez. After cutting loose Brad Penny, Derek Lowe and Joe Beimel, this means the Dodgers better find some pitching. And a shortstop would help also since word is Rafael Furcal will end up signing with the Oakland A's.
I seriously can't get enough of this! Those folks down south loves them their football. I'll just be mum about it since USC once hired a "washed up" coach to lead their football team and all he's ever done was taken them to four consecutive Rose Bowls and two national championships.
