Wii Fit Ultimate Playdate at the W Hotel

Ashley-Borden-Wii-Fit.jpgWillie Nelson is in great shape for a man in his 70's. How does he do it? In the new issue of Rolling Stone Willie Nelson says, "I've heard that lots of senior-citizens are getting Wiis, because it really does work." Willie plays Wii on his tour bus with his teenage sons. He adds, "You know most 75 year olds already decided to hang it up a long time ago. I would never be in that mind-set because I enjoy what I am doing."

So when we got the invitation from Nintendo for their Wii Fit Ultimate Playdate event at the W Hotel, we took some inspiration from Willie Nelson and headed over to learn more about how to stay in shape.

We entered the Bliss Spa at the W to find manicurists and massage therapists ready to pamper us. Wait a minute! Hold the phone! Were we being treated to video games and spa treatments at the same time? Had we entered heaven?

Then they told us that we'd get to workout on the Wii Fit with personal trainer, Ashley Borden. Borden is the author of "Your Perfect Fit" with Paige Adams-Geller. We grilled her with questions about how effective she believes the Wii Fit can be. Borden suggests that all exercise that gets us inspired has to be a good thing. She creates personalized programs for her clients and suggest that everyone can find ways to keep up their regimine, including hopping on a Wii Fit at home. The strength and balance games are great examples of where the Wii Fit be very effective. Borden also recommends investing in a rebounder to keep your heart rate up while you use the Wiimote to change between exercises.

In addition to being a internationally renowned fitness and lifestyle consultant, Ashley Borden trains clients at the Fitness Factory in West Hollywood. For a day of indulgence check out the the Bliss Spa at the W Hotel in Westwood. After our workout, we could feel the burn and our nails looked great. Now we just need to figure out how to keep up with Willie.

My boyfriend and his sisters are getting their 67-year-old father a Wii/Wii Fit for Christmas.

spa treatments and video games....yes please

let's hope they start including the Wii Fit in every hotel! It's tough to travel with a balance board.

This is a video I just posted yesterday about my own Wii Fit obsession. Thought you might like.
