As part of a nation-wide event today, gays, lesbians, and supporters thereof are being asked to take the day off to demonstrate solidarity in protest against the passage of California's Prop 8.
If you are tempted to dial up the boss right now to get yourself a day of watching the Game Show network and ordering the lunch special at your favorite neighborhood Chinese delivery spot, think again. The purpose of the day is to dedicate your time to community service and volunteerism instead: "On December 10, you are encouraged not to call in sick to work. You are encouraged to call in gay -- and donate your time to service," explains A Day Without a Gay. "A day without gays would be tragic because it would be a day without love." Whether you call in gay today or not, there will be a rally held tonight "at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and San Vicente in West Hollywood," according to MyFox Los Angeles.
