LAist: NPR West Bears the Brunt of Layoffs, Program Cuts

Marketplace is American Public Media. While layoffs are bound to happen throughout the public and private broadcast media sector, I'd doubt Marketplace would get the axe. After all, we need someone to report on all of the layoffs and trimmings.

Please don't let them take my Marketplace though. I never really cared for News and Notes anyway. (Still sorry to hear so many are losing their jobs.)

It's true, db. As paidcontent put it: "Legal restrictions severely limit expenditure of the NPR endowment, which includes the $200 million bequest made by Joan Kroc in 2003." We can only hope that the CPB (or CPM) isn't further crippled by the incoming administration.

Wow. This blows. I rarely hear anything I don't already know when I listen to Morning Edition. Day to Day, which I began skeptical of, is something I really enjoyed and looked forward to every day.

This is really disappointing. A sign of the times, I guess. Glad I didn't take a job there, like I'd been thing about, a year and a half or so ago, as I'd be out of work now.
