Gotta say...I went to the show purely because i had a free ticket, not knowing any of the bands that were playing or even knowing what musicians were in the bands.

I was happily surprised by Red Cortez. Yeah, the first few songs were a little blah, but they soon came to life and definitely brought something new and different to the table that made you want to shake your tail feathers (in a gospel/salsa sorta way)! I agree, the boys got soul.

As for Little Joy, I am really glad that i wasnt aware of all the hype - I mean, i really did go in blind. We were anti-social and stayed upstairs for all of the sets. I never saw the t-shirts or heard the girls declarations of love to this guy. In all honesty i didnt even know who he was till i heard a random comment after the show. Anyways, i really enjoyed myself! It wasnt the kind of music that makes you realize that you're wiggling around in the drivers seat, but i dont think it was supposed to be. Oh, and yes I do agree that the band REALLY seemed to come to life with a little extra help on stage.

What i think is funny now, is that for a show that apparently had all of these girls swooning over this Strokes guy, all i heard from the upstairs section were girls declaring their newly found 'girl crushes' on the chick in the band!

Why would anyone want to see Little Joy live? The album is nice and probably would work best heard in the background at a xmas party in Silver Lake but...why on earth would you need to see this music played live? SNORE.

I agree with ya.
