When You Can't Sue Mother Nature, Sue Someone Else

A couple is suing Yorba Linda because there wasn't enough water to save their homeAs the Triangle Complex fire ravaged through Orange County's Yorba Linda last month it devoured numerous pricey homes in its path. Tales of homes going down in flames as firefighters worked with limited to no water supplies began to surface, and speculations that lawsuits would result began to crop up.

It was only a matter of time before the filing would begin, and now, according to abc7.com, a "couple whose Yorba Linda home was destroyed in a wildfire last month have filed a $1.8 million claim against the city and water district, saying officials should have ensured there was sufficient water on hand to fight the blaze."

The Johnsons watched on television as their home and everything in it burned down; their attorney says it was "because firefighters did not have enough water" and that Yorba Linda "had ordered residents to stop watering easements in the community." In response, city officials have said they are going to have to "evaluate the merit of the Johnsons' claim."

I think i'll sue the Johnsons for all of their belongings entering the air in smoke form and giving me a runny nose; a slight sore throat; a couple days unable to commute to work by bike; and for raising the probability of developing lung cancer! The irresponsibility of some people...

God Bless Litigiousness.
