- City Council stepped it up today and approved an ordinance that would allow the city to do a billboard census. This way, illegal billboards can be found. Sounds simple, right? They tried this six years ago and the billboard companies filed a lawsuit cliaming it violated their first amendments rights. Yeah, okay then.
- "When Barack Obama was an undergrad at Occidental College, his favorite hangout was reportedly Casa Bianca Pizzeria in Eagle Rock," says LA City Beat. The restaurant was always popular, now it's super popular.
- We live in a Wine Lovers city: "For those of us who love wine, Los Angeles is a wonderful city for all things vinous. We have some of the best wine shops in the country, so competitive with one another that the selection of wines and favorable pricing trump those of most retailers in other parts of the country."

- Apparently today is the Day of the Ninja.
- "Seven people face charges for a series of bank heists that relied on social engineer attacks aimed at credit card customers of Chase Bank" finds Wired's Threat Level. They are "charged with phoning Chase customer service to have themselves added to customer charge card accounts from April through July of this year. They then allegedly used the plastic to run up thousands of dollars in charges at high-end retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue, and to pull dozens of cash advances from Los Angeles ATMs at $5,000 a pop. They're charged with access device fraud, bank fraud and identity theft."
- More reviews of LA Live's opening ceremonies are coming in. Curbed LA reports that "the majority of the space in the square was reserved for VIPs at the event... the rest of the public had to squeeze in at the sides and corners of the plaza in hopes of catching a glimpse of Brit. Not a great way to inaugurate a supposedly public square.
