Old Bank District to Host Block Party Saturday

Downtown celebrates the holidays this Saturday, when 4th and Main will close down to cars so people can party it up in the streets at the first annual Old Bank District Block Party. blogdowntown says:

The 6pm to midnight event will close off two blocks and feature two stages of music, an art bazaar and charity booths....Pete's Cafe, Warung Cafe and Rocket Pizza will be offering special holiday menus, with ten percent of the proceeds going to charities including Chrysalis, The Salvation Army and the Midnight Mission. At their booth, the Midnight Mission will be accepting toy and gift donations.

Partiers can also look forward to an outdoor beer and wine garden and two music stages. The main stage, programmed by Little Radio, features The Like, Whispertown 2000, The Afternoons, Restaurant, and a special guest headliner.

Regarding the toy donations, one commenter at blogdowntown said that a representative from the Midnight Mission asked that people bring toys and gifts for teens and tweens like sporting goods and backpacks. Since people tend to bring items for kids, teens typically get left out.

With the Cole's grand re-opening and the 75th anniversary of Repeal Day on Friday, Downtown is the spot this weekend. And if Downtown is not your thing, check out the Seven Year Plan Improv Group in Santa Monica or visit the LAist December Event Guide for more events happening on Saturday.
