A reader excitedly e-mails over that he's spotted Broguiere's Farm Fresh Daily egg nog with the face of California's cheerleader, Huell Howser, illustrated on the bottle.
He spotted it at Ralph's Fresh Fare in Marina Del Rey yesterday. Maybe you've seen it at your local store? If you didn't know, the farm is located locally in Montebello.
A couple of years ago It, someone tried to make ice cream with the egg nog. Apparently, it's weird, the Chowhounder found. Despite that, reviews all over the internet rave about the nog and talk about how hard it is to find sometimes.
Over on Yelp, the kids are super excited over Broguiere's chocolate milk. It's the best in the world, they say. One Yelper writes:
There's a reason there are nothing but 5 star ratings for this milk. It's hands down the best tasting milk available. It's totally hormone free and their cows are very well taken care of. Because of the weirdness of drinking milk all together, it's the only milk I will drink. It's not cheap however. With the glass deposit it's over $8 for the chocolate and about $6 for the regular. And that's a quart...easily downed in one big gulp. As with almost everything, you get what you pay for.
We can see why Howser called this "California's gold."

I remember that episode. He did a tour of that particular dairy, (i forget the name), and they imortalized 'ol Huell on a bottle of egg nogg. I bet they'll show it again during the holidays.
I don't have a perference for nogg as long as it's made with lots 'o rum or brandy in it.
I've picked up the egg nog at the Marina and Century City Gelson's locations as well. Damn good stuff.

Ah yes, I can see Huell at the dairy, looking at the pile of eggs that will go into preparing the eggnog..."Big ones, little ones...look at this one!"
If you love milk ~ Broguiere's Dairy is a little sip of heaven... i call the chocolate milk "creamy dreamy" and buy it when i really deserve something special because unless you save up 7 bottles to trade in at once... it ain't cheap!
My boyfriend has been begging for us to get the Eggnog and now I HAVE to try it! I only hope to find the "california's gold" special edition bottle!
