The Oscar winning director fled to France, who does not extradite anyone for any reason, 30 years ago after admittedly having sex with a 13-year-old at Jack Nicholson's house. So he chose: jail for France? But now he wants to be back stateside as a free man, the LA Times finds: "Lawyers for Polanski, a French citizen, cited misconduct by prosecutors and a judge in papers filed in L.A. County Superior Court today. The attorneys said that a recent HBO documentary about the case, 'Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired,' 'revealed a pattern of misconduct and improper communications between the Superior Court and the district attorney’s office in violation of the rule of law and without the knowledge' of the director and his defense."

Seeing as he accepted a deal and pleaded guilty to unlawful sex with a minor only then to go fugitive prior to his sentencing, his actions to dismiss the original criminal charges against him seem misdirected and irrelevant.
Any alleged prosecutorial or judicial misconduct might have influenced the outcome of the case, but the charges are the charges and to want those dismissed seems to make Polanski look like he's now saying nothing ever happened between him and the 13-year-old he raped.
Lest we forget, Polanski was originally charged with: rape of a minor; rape by use of a drug,; committing a lewd act upon a person less than 14 years of age; oral copulation; sodomy and furnishing drugs to a minor.
There is a big difference between consensual sex with a minor, which people somehow forgive as a Lolita-esque affair and non-consensual sex with a minor who you gave a qualuude to and raped as she was passing out.
He flaunted our laws and smirked at the cameras. Talent is no excuse for criminal behavior. Fuck him.
Hollywood should be ashamed for their support of this a-hole.
I know I'm gonna get in trouble for this but that girls mother delivered her to Polanski on a silver plated platter.
Well, not knowing all the details I still think being sentenced to 40 days for drugging and raping a 13 year old girl is pretty light. I got 90 days for possession of one marijuana cigarette in Texas back in '73.
polaroidgirl do you have a reliable link? I'd like to read what actually happened.
Sorry... no link, but I found the documentary very enlightening... major issues with with judge.
