Britney Spears Speculated to be LA Live's 'Superstar' at Tree Lighting

Britney Spears at LA LiveShe appears in the pretaped version of today's Christmas Tree lighting in New York City's Rockefellar Center, but will Britney Spears appear tomorrow for Los Angeles? That's what the rumors, heard within LA Live and around town, point to.

Tomorrow night, with or without Britney, LA Live will officially open and debut “Light of the Angels,” a seven minute, multi-dimensional light display, centered around a giant 54-foot tall Christmas tree. Every night at 7 p.m. and then on the hour thereafter, the show will light up. 462,000 programmable LEDs make up the surface of the tree making it a 360-degree video screen of sorts.

Additionally, there will be 50-foot tall angels, 150 trees with snow LED lights and the 10 giant video screens around the complex.

The press release for the event promises a "SURPRISE CELEBRITY SUPERSTAR" (yes, in caps) to show up, hence the Britney rumors. Of those names confirmed to be there tomorrow night include Natalie Cole, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (of course), University of Southern California Football Coach Pete Carroll, AEG President & CEO Tim Leiweke.

Truly, we are all doomed.

Bah! Only if she appears nekkid.

I'm gonna be Scrooge here, but can't we spend this money on things that are more worthwhile, say like feeding people and providing medical care. Go ahead, say ba humbug!
