We're continuing to hear that the restaurant/bar/music concert space that is Tangier in Los Feliz is having some financial troubles and may be going out of business. Whether that is true or not, what we do know is that it is currently in escrow and if that goes through, it remains to be seen what the news owners do with the place.
Despite that, music shows booked a few nights a week by The Fold, are discontinuing after this week. "I would love to continue putting on shows in the venue in the future, but it's been too unstable for too long to keep inviting people to play there," explained promoter Scott Sterling. "So for now I am taking a break from Tangier, and refocusing." Sterling has booked hundreds of shows at the venue bringing in well known artists such as Nouvelle Vague, Ed Harcourt, Keren Ann, Matt Costa and The Bird and the Bee.
A representative from the restaurant had no comment this afternoon.

That is really sad. It's such a lovely venue.
Nooooooooo... they have like the best happy hour IN TOWN.
AND they have been known to play such great movies as "Roadhouse" and "Spaceballs"
and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" IN THE BAR, with subtitles (so it's not crazy loud).
Nothing says "I heart L.A." like sipping $3 cosmos and watching the Swayze beat a guy up.
Hey guys,
the restaurant and bar are still open. When and if escrow closes, then we will see what the fate of Tangier is. Will it stay open, will it close down and open up as something new? Will there be more music shows with The Fold? All remain to be seen, but drink up, they're still there.
I've been to a bunch of shows here and would hate to see the place close.
My favorite memory being able to attend the recording of Chuck Ragan's live album there last year.
I'm concerned for the booths from Chasens... Theres alot of history there..
