DVD Tuesday: Not Wanted

Yay! Ultra-violence rules and is harmless!I could do this same effect in Corel Paint 4 back in the fuckin' 90s! | Photo courtesy of Universal Pictures

Wanted may very well be the worst movie ever to have made $100M (unless it's another Jolie groaner, Gone in 60 Seconds). Yes, she shows her bare ass in Wanted, but you can just as easily see that here and save yourself some money. The first two Narnia movies suffer from the same malady as the first two Harry Potter flicks--listless direction. How 'bout we bring in Alfonso Cuaron for Dawn Treader? Step Brothers was funnier than it had any right to be. Or am I just revealing my incredible bias for all things involving John C. Reilly? Another X-Files movie all these years later? Huh? How about some year-round Californication instead?

Frost/Nixon is getting fairly good buzz (some say the best picture of Ron Howard's career but what is that really saying? Has he ever topped Cocoon?) Check out the original source material today on DVD and judge for yourself whether fiction is more truthful than reality. Doesn't Keanu look awfully non-threatening in the preview for The Day the Earth Stood Still? Isn't that a problem? Since it's, you know, sort of an end-of-the-world movie? Not enough people know who in the hell Douglas Fairbanks, Lon Chaney and Ray Harryhausen are. Fix it. I wanna see Girls Gone Wild: Joe Francis Raped by Nazi Lowriders in Prison.

worst movie to make 1000 mil?

hmm wild wild west, the hulk (ang lee), 2 fast 2 furious, the cat in the hat, sequels for the matrix, beverly hills cop, spiderman iii, x men 3, pearl harbor, the last two star wars movies, and batman and robin. there.

You think Cocoon is Howard's best? I'd say Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind are obviously better.

Oh, I'd totally take the X-Files over Californication any day of the week.

Ang Lee's Hulk is great! And A Beautiful Mind is dull except for the great Crowe. I would have gone with Apollo 13 after Cocoon.

Hold on a second - did someone speak poorly of Beverly Hills Cop? One of Eddie Murphy's best roles and a great movie in the 80s? Blasphemy!
