Hold up being better than Katy Perry says so little about why one should be punished to listen to Kanye's new shit, and just because it comes on in the club and makes you move doesn't really say much positive about it either. I don't know about you but I'm usually pretty inebriated in the club so I'll move to just about anything. When will emotion, intent, and marketability stop being substitutes for talent in music.

Ughh this album is such a guilty pleasure for me...

I know all the reasons I'm not supposed to like it. The lyrics are shallow and cheesy. I was tired of auto-tune by the time Cher got a hold of it, and its totally overdone here. It's completely devoid of the punchline rapping we've come to love Kanye for, let alone any rapping. Its an all-singing album by an average-at-best singer.

And yet, when Love Lockdown comes on at a club you can't help but move to it. Some of the production on this album is amazing, just the drum track alone on that song is hopelessly catchy. Its the kind of album you listen to in secret.

Wow, I watched Kanye West perform Heartless On Good Morning America and I was amazed at how vapid it was. Musically and emotionally.

Love it! What a great review. Totally agree -- many wearisome gimmicks.
