• A new Los Angeles focused photography book has hit shelves in time for the holidays. From Santa Monica Press, "Faces of Sunset Boulevard: a Portrait of Los Angeles," by photographer Patrick Ecclesine.
• You might hear a double sonic boom tomorrow. "NASA says it is considering landing space shuttle Endeavour at Edwards Air Force Base at 1:24 p.m. on Sunday due to worsening weather conditions at Kennedy Space Center in Florida," Sciencedude says. "If Endeavour is diverted to California, it would reach the West Coast near Santa Barbara..."
• It's as if earthquakes are traveling downstate. First, a 6.2 struck off California’s northern coast 133 miles west of Eureka. Then, a 4.1 this afternoon in Central California--more specifically Ridgecrest in Kern County. A couple other 3.0-range quakes struck Salinas Valley near San Jose this weekend.
• Next up in the electronic billboard battle: Koreatown's "sign district."
• One of the girls hit by a SUV on Wednesday morning outside a Diamond Bar elementary school has died. Michelle Kwon, 3, passed away on Thanksgiving Day. She was walking with her 5-year-old sister and father--who are expected to survive--when the vehicle lost control and hit them.
• At least 5 Americans were killed in the attacks in Mumbai, India. "I was told to kill to my last breath," the lone terrorist who survived the battle told authorities. Mumbai, which used to be Bombay and is the home to Bollywood, has been a Sister City of Los Angeles since 1972.
• Eli Broad is the man when it comes to large financial donations in this town. But it seems like he's the only one. The LA Times calls for more in today's op-ed: "Today, this city needs its philanthropists more than it has in years. Not only cultural institutions but nonprofits of all types and concerns are struggling. Foundation support is hard to come by, and many would-be donors are licking their wounds from their Wall Street losses."
• Traveling between Los Angeles and more northern parts of the state via Interstate 5 is being slowed by a construction project at Magic Mountain Parkway in the Santa Clarita Valley. The project near Six Flags Magic Mountain is running more than $6 million over budget and a year late.
