- The infamous "Black Friday" got the Holiday shopping season started today. Besides a shooting in Santa Ana, things were relatively quiet. Unlike a Wal-Mart in New York where a worker was trampled to death by crazed shoppers. Yikes...
- In more heart-warming Holiday news, a group of San Fernando sewers and quilters donated their hand-made quilts and blankets to veterans in need.
- The state is ready to decide whether or not the planned Expo Line is safe enough to pass by not one but two LA schools. Residents are saying that either a bridge or an underground pass be made. Builders of the line say that at over $860 million, any changes would just drive the cost up unnecessarily.
- A college student started his sentence of 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to possession of marijuana with intent to sell. According to his testimony, he was selling in order to raise money for his Chapman University tuition. Tuition for the 2008-09 year runs around $47,000.
- Curbed LA tells of an interesting study where a stretch of Lincoln Boulevard is overrun with billboards. In that 4 mile stretch, 84(!) billboards were counted.
- Many people know that Thanksgiving is a time of helping out people in need. Many centers around the city reached out to help in a time where the number of needy has grown and the donated supplies and funds have not.
