Holiday Movie Guide: Love Is Strong!

Australia is the sort of sprawling, historical epic that just isn't made much anymore. For that reason alone, I'll go see it (since Nic and Baz don't otherwise do it for me). Four Christmases, on the other hand, is the type of movie that is made all too often these days by skittish studios. Vince Vaughn is still occasionally interesting to watch, but the once brilliant Reese Witherspoon is quickly becoming an awfully predictable actor.

It's taken years for Milk to finally get made and all indications are that it's fantastic. Sean Penn has turned into a histrionic version of Al Pacino lately, but appears to have found inspiration in his portrayal of the late San Francisco supervisor. It's a shame that Jason Statham keeps relegating himself to junk like Transporter 3. As The Bank Job showed, he can still be a compelling actor given decent material.
