My car doesn't come from the factory with a front plate mounting option, and I'll be damned if I'm going to drill the bumper to mount a plate. I've got a stopgap solution, but it would be easier without. The only reason for front plates now is so the traffic cameras can read them when you run red lights.

What's the big problem with having a front license plate? Besides the fact that you might have to buy TWO license plate frames to prove to the world you're a college graduate. :)

This is a fixit ticket - just install the front license plate, and it should only cost ~$10 for the ticket. When you buy a car, the seller is required to make the front license plate fixable. So, yes, if being cost effective is the goal, just follow a pretty straightforward, well known law. And instead of complaining about enforcement of vehicle code, maybe direct your angst to the lawmakers themselves?

I am with discarted. Front plates are ugly and a pain if you don't have the mounting hardware. Somehow 75% of the country has figured out a method to regulate cars without a front plate. Be wary at LAX as well, they ticket everywhere for no front plates including short term parking.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but seems like the real cost effective thing would have been to get the front license plate.
