One LAist reader has a travel warning for you that could put a frown on your face once you return from the Thanksgiving holiday (or any trip from that matter). Here's what they had to say:
Parking enforcement officers are now patrolling around the FlyAway parking structures and giving parking citations (mostly for cars without front license plates). So when you come back from a nice, long vacation, you'll be greeted with a parking ticket on your windshield (like me!). I found out FlyAway is created and funded by Los Angeles World Airports which is basically run by the city. So yes, FlyAway parking structures are public parking lots. For some reason I thought it was privately run.My cost-effective method to get to the airport now became not-so-cost-effective. I probably could've parked at the LAX airport long-term parking, but maybe I'd get a ticket there too.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but seems like the real cost effective thing would have been to get the front license plate.
You got that right, nick_r
I am with discarted. Front plates are ugly and a pain if you don't have the mounting hardware. Somehow 75% of the country has figured out a method to regulate cars without a front plate. Be wary at LAX as well, they ticket everywhere for no front plates including short term parking.
if only there was some way to get to union station without driving...

This is a fixit ticket - just install the front license plate, and it should only cost ~$10 for the ticket.
When you buy a car, the seller is required to make the front license plate fixable.
So, yes, if being cost effective is the goal, just follow a pretty straightforward, well known law.
And instead of complaining about enforcement of vehicle code, maybe direct your angst to the lawmakers themselves?
"Somehow 75% of the country has figured out a method to regulate cars without a front plate."
Actually, there are nineteen states that don't require a front plate...or 38%.
What's the big problem with having a front license plate? Besides the fact that you might have to buy TWO license plate frames to prove to the world you're a college graduate. :)
I never park in those lots anyway - those shuttles take FOREVER. Park N Fly is my choice. Anything to make money for the city I guess...sigh

It's also probable cause for pulling a driver over to look for something else to bust them for.
I've never understood those who say 'front license plates are ugly'. Who the fuck cares? It's the law.

exactly, how often is one looking at the front of their own car anyways?
My car doesn't come from the factory with a front plate mounting option, and I'll be damned if I'm going to drill the bumper to mount a plate. I've got a stopgap solution, but it would be easier without. The only reason for front plates now is so the traffic cameras can read them when you run red lights.

Really? I'm guessing you're buying your car out of state then. Because, again, California dealers are required to sell cars with front license plates on them.
Sorry you incurred the ticket, Zach. Not a nice welcome home present.
There are more annoying things than front end license plates, though, in states, like Indiana, that don't require them:
