If you've ever traveled northbound on Interstate 5 Freeway the day before Thanksgiving, you know it will take hours just to get out of Los Angeles, into Santa Clarita Valley and over the Grapevine (same goes for the Sunday after coming back into the city).
Making it worse this year, one of the four lanes at Templin Highway (south of the Grapevine) is closed for five miles due to "due to storm-related slope stabilization and extensive roadway repairs," according to Caltrans. With that said, they are warning this year to plan ahead and leave early.
They also say that travel delays are expected from Monday, November 24 through Monday, December 1.

That's fucking fabulous, I'm leaving at noon Wednesday for Thanksgiving.
Ugh
That's always been the worst day. A few years ago on that day, I spent an hour going from Sherman Oaks to Mission Hills on the 405 North. I gave up on getting to the Santa Clarita Valley and went home.
anyone with a pickup with a spacious truckbed want to have a thanksgiving dinner on the 405 N?
TrafficTurkey(TM). Gobble gobble.
Comming back was a big laugh :) Im just glad the fog from Central Valley wasnt clogging up the 'vine too !
