21-year-old Jeffrey Woods was indicted this week by the Orange County Grand Jury over the death of a 14-year-old teen he hit with his truck in August 2007. Woods was apparently texting about a drug deal at the time of the crash in Huntington Beach. He also was allegedly on Vicodin and Xanax. The teen, Danny Oates--also known as "Oatie"--was riding his bicycle to pick up his middle school schedule. Woods' arraignment for felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence while intoxicated and felony driving under the influence causing bodily injury is on December 5th. Texting while driving will be illegal beginning January 1st, 2009.

I hope he gets some good long jail time to think about what he's done and permanent revocation of his drivers license.
This guy was not convicted but merely indicted by the Orange County Grand Jury. Get your facts straight before you make posts about things.
It will likely be a while before this d-bag gets convicted.

Do you really, for an instant, think this guy is going to walk? GarySe7en made no statement indicating that the guy had been tried or convicted; just that he hoped the "guy" got a long sentence when the time comes.
Driving while being a MORON should be illegal. Who the hell puts their drug deals in writing?
This happened 2 blocks away from our house. It's heartbreaking.
Every day we pass by the cross that is now on the wall where he was hit, and as a mother, my heart just breaks because I think of his family... And every holiday there is always a shrine of some sort -- gifts and pictures left from his friends and family. This is all they can do now to feel like they are still able to include their child in their life. They go to a wooden cross attached to a brick wall on Indianapolis.
I didn't know them, but I still think of them all the time. You feel the pain whenever you pass a new shrine... first Christmas without their son, you wonder how they're doing. Easter without their son, you wonder how they're doing. Summer without their son ... Winter without their son ... Spring without their son. I pray for them all the time.
